  1. I would say I spend $200-300 on tackle exclusively each month. More in the winter. I rarely need anything but I stock up on sales and am always looking for the next hot lure. Despite two boats and a garage of tackle, I still use a handful of lures 99$ of the time- Watermelon creme 5" GYCB seiko, green pumpkin TRD, green pumpkin Crazy Chigger craw, keithech EZ shiner, and a Zoom Old Monster Black Trick Worm. I told the misses this last night and she was beyond angry because when TRDS first came out they were no where to be found, she was on a business trip and there was a BPS so I had her clean out the TRDs, every color. She is wondering why I "needed" all those colors. I told her same reason she "needs" all her different pairs of shoes. Conversation over.
  2. I don know about feeding them to just feed them. I like deer, enjoy seeing them, but other than a few nutrient blocks I don't give them anything.Black Magic or Swamp Donkey work great as well. I dont want them to get used to someone else feeding them. Plus, a lot of people who feed deer corn down realize that this can lead to fatality by over eating corn. Easy to do with 50lb bags of Corn for sale for $10.00. I know some hunters in Rumney, NH where I hunt set up bait stands for various animals (deer, bear, etc) and I believe everything needs to be labeled with your information, and there are certain additional restrictions. Please call your local game warden because you dont want to risk fines, your catch, and your next year hunting license.
  3. I haven't had the algae bloom. The water in my favorite lakes is the lowest I can recall in 10+ years. I am seeing rocks that I have not ever been able to visually see before. The past three weeks have been pretty slow numbered wise, but the big girls are definitely biting. A couple fish 4-5lbs. On Sunday got out with my Dad in the morning, and we caught 10+ fish in 90 minutes of fishing in the rain. The rain got the fish active and we saw breaking bait fish all day. I am looking forward to some more rain. One from our dock, two from the aluminum boat, and one from the back seat of the Ranger.
  4. I usually give them a short durable rod like a 6ft MH Ugly Stick. They can abuse it all day long and the rod will take it. I won't worry about them high sticking, so they can fish without me trying to correct their technique to save a $300+ rod tip from exploding. Its win win for everyone.
  5. Late Summer when the grass is high in my home lake, the trick worm flat out catches fish. Looking forward to these new colors to trick the bass that must be getting used to my black trick worms I have been throwing for 10+ years now every July and August.
  6. Yup, the cheap rapala ones will do. But, they will rust out eventually. Great option if you dont fish a lot or down have $60+ to spend on pliers. But, if you are a diehard and going to be spending years fishing these are not only better, usually have integrated brain cutters, look better, but will save you money in the long run.
  7. Yup, I was guilty of this in the past. When it got dark I would be the last to put the lights on. If I was out in my aluminum and not my bass boat, and it was a quiet night on my small lake I would not put my lights on. I thought their are only party boats and if they get close I can flash a light at them. Well fast forward to this Christmas. Unusually warm temps, the bas boat was winterized and in storage but I throw my aluminum and 8 hp in the lake. Im out fishing. Its time to head in. Im one of like 3 boats and its getting dark, a neighbor bought a dag gummit hovercraft and was heading straight forward me. I flash my light and yell. Those things are as loud as a small plane- he can't hear me. He finally sees me and peels off from wrecking us both. Next day or so I go to walmart and get a cheap portable light set and put it on the boat and leave it on all the time. No excuse not to.
  8. Yea, not sure why it is white. Either water or perhaps some additive like sea foam. I would get to the bottom of it before making an offer.
  9. No. I live in the NE. Winter means fallen trees. Fallen trees can wreck a bass boat good. Not worth the nominal savings in my estimation.
  10. Star tron and seafoam in every fill up. I run the Yamalube once per year and about every other fill up I add some marvel mystery oil too. Probably put some fuel system cleaner in there 3 times a year too. Yea, I put a lot other than gas in my tank. Drives my Dad crazy but my motor has been a champ (except this year) for the past 7 or so years.
  11. I am in a locale that their are no options. I literally have two options. The big professional marina or this guy. Big professional marina long wait time, good work, high costs. This guy work is ok, high cost, no wait. I hate it.
  12. Haven't picked it up yet, just got the final tally over the phone. But I went online and it was $30-50 for parts.
  13. So I have been fishing for say 10+ years a few days a week. Really hard the past 3 years or so. I have caught fish that have tied themselves up around a dock leg or some brush. I have lost even more fish that have done that to me. However, yesterday was a first. I was fishing a dock where I lost a 4-5lb bass who snapped my line off in some thick weeds two weeks ago. it was one dock over from where I caught a 5lber on Sunday. With all of this heat here in the NE, I think the bass are stocked up here due to the oxygenated weed beds. Anyhow, I cast my berkley crazy chigger craw right to the side of the dock. It lands barely under the dock. I let the lure sink, quick two pops and my drag starts to scream. The fish went on 2-3 good runs. Then it got interesting and went under the dock. It went under the dock leg and a crossbeam which was an area about the size of a basketball. I bring the boat close and realize I am likely to lose the fish. I feel the line rubbing on the dock and ready myself for the break. I am now holding onto the dock and the fish stops fighting. I can't see it. I figure at this point, the fish is gone and my line is simply tied around the dock tight. I am unable to free my line for a minute, so I take my rod and push it underwater underneath the cross brace. I feel the fish fighting and can now see its a 4.5 lber. Its tied around one more dock leg and only about 5 feet from me. By this time the dock owner came out to investigate, I told her I was hooked up, and she is on the dock watching the show. I hand line the fish around the last dock leg and finally land the fish. It was prob 3-4 minutes to get the fish in. Take some photos, throw the fish back. High five my dad. Then I go to move spots forgetting I had thrown down the anchor during the fight. So I have to spend a minute undoing that. Without a doubt my most interesting fish fight. So curious, what is everyone else's craziest fights?
  14. $260.00 for Genuine Yamaha Parts and labor.
  15. So you were all correct. The posit valve was stuck. So happy its not the water pump again because I can't take another expensive repair bill this summer. Anyone have an idea as to what the cost for this repair should run at a small local repair shop?
  16. Only goes off at idle speed. Thermostats are brand new. And just got the compete go thru from the marina so nothing should be clogged.
  17. I have a 2001 Ranger. It has a 2 stroke 150 Yamaha Vmax. It has been mind for 6 years. No issues. It was cherries before, and I do regular maintenance and down beat on it. I change the water pump every 2 years. Thats overkill for the amount of time I run it and the short season I have here in MA. Anyhow, this spring I got the overheat alarm. My water pump had somehow gone bad. My mechanic was shocked. He replaced the entire thing-water pump, gaskets, thermostats etc. Well, it ran fine for 3 weeks and today I got the overheat alarm again. It is driving me crazy as I'm already into the boat $3k this summer in repairs. Anyone have any idea as to what could be the culprit. My mechanic said there was a little sand in the engine when he replaced everything. My dad has the tendency to come into the ramp hot and has to give it a bit of reverse. He did that today, nothing major. Any chance that is the culprit....let me know. Thanks in advance.
  18. Welcome. I am right on the MA/NH border and have been fishing serious for 10+ years. IF you want to talk about some of these lakes/lures I have success with around my neck of the woods shoot me a PM. Go Soxs!
  19. Not offended whatsoever. Everyone has different tastes, that includes in fishing videos/youtube preferences. TJ81 reminds me of me with my OCD tendencies. Don't fault a guy for a clean boat, you wouldn't fault him for a clean muscle car. Also, he is married, has a full time job and has a few kids so the plus side of all those other time commitments is that the boat doesn't see much water. As it relates to unboxings, I hate them too. Boring. I only look at MTB Pro unboxing if I want to get a sneak peek as to whats in my box that month.
  20. Try grubs, spinner baits, TRD, and senkos. IF that doesn't work try live bait (shiners and crawlers). If that doesn't work, theres not fish try another pond.
  21. St croix rage and the shminao of the week. Great comb but may just be that it is I'm weightless wacky rigged senko rod and catches fish all day, every day.
  22. I am in the same are as you, in fact I am last town in MA. 5 minutes and I am in southern NH. Fish MA and NH. There are 10lb bass around. However I don't think there are a lot. And, as mentioned above those DD bass are old fish. I am a firm believer that big bucks and big fish don't get that big by being dumb. IF you get one, make sure you treat it right and put it back.
  23. Why take the chance on losing the fish of a lifetime. I would strip the entire spool. Doesn't cost much and doesn't take more than a few minutes spool. No brainer to me- replace it all.
