Just another reminder that Mother Nature doesn't mess around...except for the duck billed platypus of course.

Made a few purchases because the deals were good, the funds were there and I felt like reminding myself that winter will end...eventually! I returned a gift from a family member to Dick's and they gave me store credit so I checked out their clearance section. BTW they had a sign on the door saying they were having a "Tent Sale" but there was no tent outside of the building. I questioned one of the lackies...um...I mean "Retail Specialist" about this and was told there is no tent outside. My response was "Yea, I can see that. That is the question. How can you have a "Tent Sale" with no tent?". I was then told the tent didn't make the trip. So I responded with "So this is more a metaphorical "Tent Sale" than an actual tent sale?". I then told them that they had real tents in the building, for sale and could just take one of those tents, put it up outside and then they would not have a metaphorical "Tent Sale" but an actual "Tent Sale". They just looked at me. Anyway, I bought some stuff. Here it is.

Have you tried throwing big rocks onto the ice to break it up. As kids we use to do this starting around mid March and by the end of April most of the ice was gone.

I wish people would stop bragging all the time. I've ice fished 2 for a total of 20 hours and all I caught was a bad case of the Tijuana trots. Might have been the can of guacamole dip. I knew it was a gamble. Got it at a gas station.

All that gopher does is make a lot of businesses in a western PA town plenty of money and give people a reason to get up early and drink (like they really needed a reason).

Hope he fully recovers and enjoys many more years on the water.

Still thinking about cutting the cable. Got to find a way I can still get the programs I want. I was watching amazon prime video and really like it. Problem is my cable and internet are bundled so there are "savings". At one time I had cable, internet and a landline bundled and when I cut out my landline the package price didn't go down very much.

I have to correct this. I was traveling around and had to stop at a Walmart only to find a clearance sale on some fishing items. Nothing spectacular but they had 7 inch power worms for $1. If I didn't have a bunch already I would have bought them.

As the official "Troll" for this topic (there was a vote, I was elected) I would just like to tell you all the advantages of being fat. #1. We are harder to kidnap. #2. I ran out of energy. I'm gonna take a nap now. More about this in a few hours.

Us extreme northerners gotta wait an extra 3-4 wks till our Walmarts put the old stuff on sale.

I think we should start a online petition to get Academy stores in every state. I'd even promise to spend my next paycheck there.

I went on a 4 hour car ride with my niece and her little boy. I never want to hear that song again as long as my ears are attached to my head. My niece didn't warn me he was obsessed with the "Frozen" soundtrack. After 3 hours I knew every word of that dang song.

Although this video wasn't filmed in the spring it is probably the best informational video I've found on fishing the Susky during spring. Listen to what is said about fishing eddies and watching the debris or bubbles on the water to show you where to fish.

We are going to get a few days of really cold weather but that isn't what is bothering me. The end of this week and the first half of next week is suppose to be above average high temps (40 to 50 degrees) with rain. That means melting snow and then at night it freezes. That worries me more than anything.

Why sometimes I love the state trout stocking program.

My blooper happened on a windy day when I was out on my canoe at a local lake. I had drifted with the wind for about a mile when I decided to paddle back to the launch. I grabbed the paddle and started to paddle. After a few minutes the paddle slipped out of my hands and onto the lake as my boat keep going in the opposite direction. Luckily there was a couple in a v-hull behind me who helped me out and retrieved my wayward paddle and brought it to me using their trolling motor. The guy suggested I get a TM just in case. I actually thought about it.

Didn't know that either. Fished it about 10 times in the last decade and never really cared to fish it consistently. The fact that you can't put a boat on the lake makes it kind of a waste of travel time for me.

A basses brain is small... meaning it only has a few functions. Reasoning isn't one of them. You can't teach them algebra or philosophy or even the fact that Tiger Wood's career in golf is pretty much over, he'll never win another major tournament and he should just retire and enjoy the billion dollars he has. But I digress. A fishes brain is for only eating and making little fishes. He has no inclination to learn not to hit certain lures or be educated in the ways of us anglers. And I think we are better for this.

I've driven in almost all of the eastern seaboard states and I can tell you Massachusetts has to be the worst. I've seen MA drivers do things you wouldn't believe. Like trying to make a U-turn on a bridge, trying to back out of a toll booth and driving about 30 mph on the interstate with no hazards on. They're worse than Canadians.

I don't prescribe to the adage of blending in. I have had bass follow my canoe, swim right towards my canoe and I have even caught bass directly under my canoe in gin clear water. Sight fishing works well and if you can see them, they can see you.
