  1. Adrien Avena's drain pipe was a producer.
  2. He's a heart-breaker the few times I've picked him over at BASS.
  3. There is a reservoir I use to fish where bass would kill a slow-rolled big spinnerbait with a #7 Colorado blade. You literally had to crawl it across the bottom with the blade barely moving. But you are right, big, heavy spinnerbaits are hard to come by today.
  4. Out of a hat... I don't know why I love this pic but I do.
  5. Last year was terrible. The only year I didn't get to fish the Susky during Fall. The river was high most of the year. Yes and my uncle can tell you some stories about fishing that section that will make your hair curl. Pale white catfish, suckers with tumors and what looked like a mutant beaver chasing him up the bank. I've got my own story that isn't so bizarre but just as scary.
  6. I thought the last name sounded familiar. Peter T. was a big stick in competitive angling.
  7. Notice on the chart that there are color changes on crawfish. They are not one color. I've caught hundreds of crawfish and can tell you there is no exact color that matches the different colors found on a crawfish. Personally I think "matching the hatch" when it comes to bass fishing is highly overrated. I believe presentation and knowing where to fish is more important.
  8. I didn't know that was a prerequisite for purchasing this item. Is there anything else someone should have before buying this product? Nerves of steel? Eyes of an eagle? A wooden leg?
  9. Rick Clunn Well deserved win. Wish I could have watched.
  10. *sigh* I can't. And now for something completely different.....
  11. As far as women not liking to fish, I think you are mistaking "hardcore" fishing with "just fishing". A friend of mine fishes with his wife but not in the same way he fishes with me. No constantly casting and using different baits. With his wife they just use bobbers and worms or inline spinners.
  12. 9^^^^ Since we have a theme going.
  13. Wow. That is sad when you think about the kids not being able to catch panfish. Growing up we had a pond just outside of town. As kids we would climb down a steep hill, walk the train tracks for about 2 miles and then cross a busy road just to get to fish for bluegills.

    Soon....

Guess I better wear my floaties.
  15. Congrats and hope you make more.
  16. 10^^^
  17. I agree with everything you said.
  18. A friend of mine is a PA Waterways Conservation Officer (Guppy Cop). We were talking last weekend and he told me that the trend in the US is less people fishing and even less people under the age of 25 fishing. He told me that if trends continue there will be less money spent on conservation and less enforcement of fishing and boating laws. He volunteers to teach young people in urban areas to fish and even buses kids from the city to rural areas to get an opportunity to fish. But he says that less and less kids are taking advantage of the program. So I was wondering if any forum members have any ideas on how to get more kids outdoors and into fishing? Lets hear your suggestions.

Nah, you can keep it. I'm digging a hole in my backyard and hopefully by next winter I'll hit Australia.

    Soon....

Temps today were in the mid 50's and I was chomping at the bit. I have all my rods and reels out and am going through my tackle trays to check hooks and cut off old line.
  22. Got Benton, Hartman, Lester, Prince and Shryock. No clue how they will do over the 4 days. Put my weight at 90 lbs.
  23. There was always one kid who wanted to be in our group. We'd send him out to retrieve the rocks so we could use them again. Sometimes he would help break up the ice in his own way.
  24. Yikes!!!! Do you think he caught it on a dropshot? I want to know for a friend.
  25. Got back from the Great American Outdoor Expo in Harrisburg and I've got a few gift ideas for those of you that want to get me a surprise for my upcoming 50th birthday. First is the ultimate river boat. I like the handles on the bench seat behind the pilot's chair. Your passengers are going to need them cause this beauty flies. The second boat is another on my dream list of boats. And here is why its on my "Dream" list. Can't wait till spring.
