  1. I think if you give more info on where you live, your current temps and what creek you are fishing some of the forum member will be able to help you with your question.
  2. That is a question you hear on this forum quite a bit in different forms. As you said, there really isn't a answer I can give you. I normally use my gut on lakes I've fished before. If I'm fishing a new (to me) lake I change lures more often and try lures I haven't used or in a way I haven't used them before. A friend who fished tournaments told me he had a rule called the "Frustration Scale". If he was fishing in a tourney or practice and started to get frustrated he'd measure the level and make a decision based on that. If he was slightly frustrated he might just change color, if he was moderately frustrated he would change areas, if he was highly frustrated he would jump up and down on the bow of his boat cursing up a storm.
  3. Really looks like the Matzou nano. At least the body has the same shape. The hump near the head gives me the idea its a Matzou. The paint job might be a bit difference but that could just be a change in the pattern from one year to the next.
  4. If you have a canoe or kayak and you are near Jim Thorpe check out Mauch Chunk Lake. Great lake for largemouth bass and other panfish. Bring some bass spinners and worms for some good fishing.
  5. Roumbanis, Lane and Combs.
  6. You think its slow in northern Alabama, you should try coming up to northeastern Pennsylvania. We went from highs in the 70's and 80's to highs in the 40's and 50's overnight. No gradual cooling, just a sudden drop in temps. Might as well have drilled several holes in my canoe for all the use I'm getting out of it this fall. Time to call it a season and start dreaming about next spring.
  7. Actopus….is that a kind of squid that does Shakespeare in the park? In that case its probably an out of work Actopus.
  8. Its spelled Jim and he cooks my cheeseburgers and fries at the local diner.
  9. Welcome.
  10. Could it be the otter came back without you seeing it? Those things are sneaky. My local lake had one for a year and I didn't know it.
  11. Same up here. Dead giveaway for activity when you can't see it on the surface.
  12. @crypt I'm glad to know that the Dr. says you are going to be ok. If you feel the need to talk about what's going on with you don't hesitate. Many people on here have been through similar medical problems and can relate. My prayers are going out to you and your family for a quick recovery.
  13. The sound gave me chills when I first heard it hiking in northern PA. We have a population of elk in the counties of Elk and Cameron. In the fall they have viewing stations where, in the early a.m., you can occasionally see a bull with a harem of cows.
  14. Welcome to the forum. You have at your fingertips a huge amount of information to help you with any questions. Feel free to ask and share.
  15. Just my opinion but I think ESPN, who owned BASS for a time, dropped BASS once they saw it wasn't as profitable as they thought it would be and then just used the BASS tournaments as nothing more than a slot filler for their schedule. They didn't seem interested in advertising or consistently placing the tourneys in the same time slot or even the same channel. Now, at times, BASS tourneys might be on at 7, 8 or 9 am, Saturday or Sunday and on ESPN 1, 2 or 3. With changes like that its no wonder tv viewership is terrible. The Outdoor Channel seems to be willing to play MLF on a more routine schedule. Again, just my opinion.
  16. Sorry to hear about your father. My prayers go out to you and your family. Stay strong and remember the good times.
  17. Dry it off on the outside and go on with your day. Most reels will stand a dunking or two just as long as you don't leave it in water for hours. If you are really concerned, open it up, clean the grease out, lube it up and close it.
  18. The trolls are probably people who live in cities in the Northeast or in California and think the tree growing outside their apartment building is nature.
  19. Wow that beast is huge. Congrats on the new pb.
  20. If I was the customer/homeowner I would have understood and would have thanked you.
  21. @Tim Kelly I met a couple from Australia while in NYC and some of the stories they told me were amazing. Finding poisonous snakes in cabinets under the sink, being stuck by a box jellyfish, and being bitten by a funnel web spider. Australia sounds like a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to die there.
  22. Dude if that was my house and I found that in it....time to burn it to the ground. Then I'd call in an airstrike just to make sure it was dead. Then I'd sell the property to a company that would use it to dispose of chemical waste. Creepy!!!
  23. I was checking out various rail-trails online and found Whitehall Park/Ironton rail-trail in Whitehall PA and notices some ponds on the map near the trail. Anybody in that area know anything about those ponds? If I take the trip in the spring I was just wondering if I should bring my fishin' pole?
  24. I used Spooks for a couple decades and then this spring I got some Lucky Craft Sammies on sale at Ollie's. I don't think I'll go back to Spooks any time soon. Sammies are just so easy to use. It doesn't take much to walk the dog with a Sammie. I found myself bringing them along even if I didn't think the topwater bite would be on. Also the hooks are super sharp. If you find one cheap buy it and try it.
  25. I'll give that a try next time I'm out. Thanks.
