I don't consider "skateboarding" to be a sport since my grandfather broke his hip because of one. He was drunk one night and came home and his great grandchild had left his skateboard on the floor. He went upstairs, slept off the night before and came down the next morning. He had a hearty breakfast, took out the trash, fed the dog and took a nap. When he woke up from his nap he did some dusting around the house, rehung a crooked picture of Elvis standing next to Richard Nixon and wrote out some checks for some bills. Then, as he was walking out of the house, it happened. He fell over trying to pick up the skateboard that was lying around. And that is how he broke his hip because of a skateboard.

There is a guy who guides on Raystown Lake and I was listening to a seminar he was giving on striper fishing and he told a story of catching a 6 pound smallie on a 11 inch rainbow trout he was trolling. Not surprised at all.

These days lure companies make lures in all sizes and weights, so a baitcaster isn't necessary. I got a friend I fish with that only uses spinning gear and he catches just as many fish as I do. Never more, cause that would be wrong.

Yea but that just saves taxpayer money to remove it. Besides now the bass have one more place to hide. Just looking on the bright side.

Here is my thinking about the Lunar/Solar calendars and fishing. I can't prove it works. Too many variables to it, such as lure, lure presentation, weather and locations fished to definitively say it is effective. Also there is the placebo effect. If someone believes it works then it does for them. I see it as a outdoor equivalent of horoscopes. Just my opinion.

Notice the 8-12 inches of snow we may get on Saturday. So glad I'm off work that day. 44 more days till spring. That's usually when we get the worst snow storms.

Lost a 12 inch section of my colon because of diverticulitis. They called it the J channel. Had it for 5 days before I went to the ER. They keep me for 4 days, pumping nuthin' but IV fluids through me. 2 more bouts of it in a year and a half was enough to get the surgery. My advice, from now on eat plenty of fiber.

In my area we have one this weekend (snow storm is coming) at a mall, then next weekend at the Bloomsburg Fair Ground and then is the big one. The NRA Great American Outdoor Show is huge. I've been going to it since it first started and have only missed 2 years, once because of bad weather and once because it was cancelled. Only problem is every year there is less and less fishing vendors. But I'll still be there if only for the free swag. I miss the Timonium show at the fair grounds. They always had some of the best and most informative seminars on freshwater and saltwater fishing. Plus it was warmer down there.

Love the Kalin's Darter heads with a Zoom Fat Albert grub. I think many anglers have moved on to the ned head and moon eye jigs but I still carry darters and use them when I can.

And where is that snow now.... The good thing about snow in the south is it never lasts long but up here snow just piles up. Then comes the thaw and we go from a white landscape to gray and slush everywhere.

I said it in September and I'm sticking with it. I got the Chiefs and the Rams in the big game.

Me too. I still throw it when ever I see any lily pads or weeds that reach the water's surface. One of these days.....
