  1. I usually get my lipless baits fouled up pretty good. I'm not a fan of cleaning it off, but boy is it worth it! I do lose quite a bit of lures, but usually not in the salad. I've lost countless lipless baits on rocks and downed trees though.
  2. If they are holding tight to cover like mentioned above a smaller profile spinnerbait banged up against cover/the bank can be a great fish catcher. Go w/a 1/4 oz for a small profile. This is especially goodbif the main forage is shad. If the main forage is crawfish try crawling a natural crawfish color jig along the bottom.
  3. Greatest baits I have ever fished. I picked up a bunch of square bills, poppers, jerkbaits, and rattlebaits at $3 a pop at Dicks as well. It's the only thing I've bought form dicks the entire year
  4. There was an ok deal on the CarbonLite stuff, and also the 5 packs of lures were marked down to a decent price (I am a fan of the XPS Lures) and I am looking to buy the hook remover for $5 for my dad (He got a hook buried past the barb in his hand earlier this season) for christmas.
  5. Ok, I will make a note of this if I go take a look at the boat. Could save me from some heartbreak (and a possible wallet eater) later! Thanks again!
  6. Was definitely looking to negotiate. Thanks for the advice!
  7. Looking to buy the thing. Would like to see it in person, and would obviously check out the motor (oil, plug pressure, and the bilge/aerator pumps) but from the pictures, the Gel Coat, Seats, and Carpet looks immaculate. Would it be worth checking out? http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/boa/4737723899.html
  8. Seems like it would be a good all around setup for jigs. I might go for a medium heavy rod, but I think the medium is fine, especially w/braided line. I assume the fluoro-braid is still low/zero stretch?
  9. Money not being a problem? Probably a custom Gaffight. They are local rod guys, but too expensive for my taste.
  10. Sweet, good thing the anti reverse wasn't blown! I just wipe everything I can w/the swab. I don't worry about it too much. If you do this it should be fine. Also, w/the drag, I've had a similar problem, accidentally backing it off, and not having enough torque to pull my spinnerbait. Freaked me out!
  11. Is the handle moving back? You are sure its not the anti reverse?
  12. Wipe dirty areas clean w/a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol (it dries fast). Then lubricate the handle knobs, worm gear, levelwind, and drag star. You can flush the bearings if you like, but I find moisture to be more of a problem than a help. This is how my dad and I serviced all are reels, and I am still using a Shimano Bantum Magnumlite that was serviced this way for 30 years.
  13. Alright, I'll take the Cherrywood out as part of my jerkbait setup and see how I like it! Thanks guys!
  14. It's a medium action , and has a good bit of tip action to it. My dad uses his as a crankbait rod, its got some good give to it. Looks like I will give it a try and see if I like the composite!
  15. If I had to choose between a Graphite Rod and a Composite Rod For Jerkbait Fishing which one would you use? They are both 6'6" Medium Rods, and I'm assuming that the Graphite would be more sensitive than Composite, right? But do I want more or less sensitive? For specifics it's between a 6'6" Medium Berkley Lightning Rod (Graphite) and a Medium Berkley Cherrywood HD (Composite). They both have the same style of guides. I know they aren't your expensive Loomis Rods, but they are what I have to work with. Thanks, Jakob
  16. My dad and uncle used to fish the lakes at Unicersity of North Florida when my dad was going to college there. They had some pretty good lakes back in the day.
  17. St Croix are my choice in that price range.
  18. So I can't exactly afford a Jackson.. Sigh... I'd like to have one, but I don't have the means to drop 1,200 bucks on a yak. So I've heard good things about the Ascend, and even after hearing the bad about them I think I can deal. I can seal the leaky areas myself w/silicone, and I can make a nonslip casting deck w/some paint and sand. My question is should I go w/ the FS12T or the FS128T? I'm familiar q/general differences but wanted to ask here. My worries at home are storage, loading it onto my FJ Cruiser, and weight. On the water my worries are stablility, standability, and having enough room for my gear. Does anybody have experience w/these kayaks?
  19. Indiana also has a 3 hook reg. I would recommend using blades most of the time. I don't cat has much w/out them IMO
  20. Here is what I know about the A-Rig. First, you don't always have to use the same color. White bass in particular like different colors of baits. As for bass, I would fish w/all of the same bait (shad colors) to mimick a small school of bait. As for dummy baits, put those on the top, and hooked baits on the bottom because bass will attack the rig from beneath it, similar to a shark
  21. Casting. As for power, go w/the lightest one you think you can set the hook with. The lighter rod will not tire you out as much. I throw spinnerbaits on a ST Croix MH Triumph because I traded an old Shimano Fightin' Rod for it.
  22. How much is shipping cost from Siebert Outdoors?
  23. That is a really great price on those weights!! Have you had a successful order from there before?
  24. Maybe the fish in your area are more lethargic? Are you getting bit on the prop bait when you are pausing it? It could also be a profile thing..
