  1. I have some Graphite reels that are DECENT, but if I was going for a higher end reel I would look for an all metal frame, either aluminum, or even better, magnesium. Regular graphite reel flames will flex over time.
  2. The real question is how much are you willing to spend? If you are willing to spend $600 then go ahead and buy a Steez. I believe there is one for sale for around $400 in the flea market. But if not, then probably get something else. The only reel in the Lew's price range I would think of buying would be a Tatula, because they look sexy. My 2 cents.
  3. Lew's is not progress? What about the beginnings of low profile? New features like dual breaking, distance and shape of the lwvelwind to decrease line friction and increase casting distance? Also, the Team Lew's and Tourney Pros are fairly refined in my opinion. If a touring pro like Jay Yellas can use his Lew's on tour w/grueling schedules for 2 years straight w/out a single issue, that's pretty darn good.
  4. Like said above its all about personal preference. Also, like said above, Lew's offers extras in the price range, which I like, considering I don't have the budget to throw at 6+ high end Shimano reels. Also, a reel that light is great in your hand, but some lightweight reels ist don't feel as solid. Usually the lightest I would go is 6.5 oz. I have nothing against the Shimanos, but I don't have the $, and I don't care to own several different reels. Going to all Lew's has allowed me to have great muscle memory from reel to reel, as they are all set up the same, similar to the Glock handgun platform.
  5. I really like the format of it. It's a really interesting concept, and so are the BASS Brawls, although I like the idea of the challenge better because they each get their own boat. I would like to try that myself. I'm also a big omfan of Scott Martin in general.
  6. Same. You could probably get a nineties boat considerably less than that actually. The late 2000s would probably be the top of your price range.
  7. I would probably also bring back the Daiwa Procaster if I think about it. I'd add soft touch rubber nobs or Eva grips, a put bearings behind the knobs, a bent star drag and curved 90mm handle, a duraluminum style gear, as well as an anti reverse bearing, and a t wing would be pretty cool to. I'm pretty sure it was an aluminum frame, bur I'd definitely want it to be that too.
  8. Alrighty! Il probably go w/XL then. I have used trilen XL mono and braid and trust their lines. Thanks for the advice!
  9. I'd add an anti reverse bearing on both reels. That's why I don't use them, the anti reverse is shot.
  10. Original Browning Midas Round Reels. That, or the Round Quantum Tour USA. That was also a good reel. Made in the US too
  11. Is anyone a fan of Berkley Trilene Or Berkley Trilene XL fluoro? I would like to compare it to Invizex handling wise, as well as sensitivity. Im not worried about low vis or abrasion resistance.
  12. Yes, he is professional. This is because he has been Bass Fishing since the 1940s. He knows what works, does his reaearch/pre fishing for a show, and you don't see him catch dunks. I for one have seen a few. He is great because he has developed a great talent for fishing. He is one of the big 3 for a reason, and has a much better earning standpoint (in tournaments) compared to his fellow Big 3 member Jimmy Houston. Need I remind you he came in 2 in, and eventually also one, a Miller High Life Bassmasters Classic.
  13. I really enjoy that show! He does a great job when flipping/pitching, and has taught me a lot about the technique as I rarely flip/pitch. He also has good stuff about smallies, including topwaters and spinning tackle.
  14. Were you guys fishing shad colored frogs?
  15. Not a fan of the white color blanks. But they are still nice rods. I am a fan of their rods w/cork handles.
  16. You fish a frog prespawn?
  17. I know that a lot of guys fish suspending jerkbaits to find fish in the spring. Does anybody fish topwaters? Will prespawners hit a topwater? Which topwaters do you fish?
  18. Bill Dace Outdoors of course! That being said, I also enjoy watching In-Fisherman, Extreme Angler TV, and Facts of Fishing. But Bill Dance is the all time best IMO.. Not even Roland or Jimmy can compete!
  19. Seet! My uncle had several speed sticks in his arsenal. I'm a fan of they're reels and would really like to use their rods!
  20. 6'6" Medium Berkley Lightning Rod Custom w/a 4.9:1 Cabela's Tournament ZX 6'6" Medium Berkley Cherrywood w/a 6.3:1 BPS ProLite Special 7' Medium Heavy Berkley Lightning Rod Shock w/a 7.1:1 Lew's Tournament 6'6" Medium Heavy Berkley Lightning Rod w/a 7.5:1 Lew's Tournament MB 6'6" Medium Heavy Quantum Torsion w/a 6.4:1 Lew's Laser MG 6'6" Berkley Amp Spinning w/a 5.1:1 Quantum Accurist PT
  21. Do you have experience w/Iron Silk?
  22. I like St. Croix. I have no experience with the Duckett, but I don't really like the way they look. I like St Croix stuff because I can feel the quality. If the $20 is a deal breaker though, get the Duckett.
  23. Does anybody have experience w/Berkley Iron Silk?
  24. Video about it on *** was posted a few days ago. Would be a good reference.
  25. Yes. The Excalibur line is a value version of Bomber. The Xcalibur is higher end lures w/holographic finishes, premium Xcalibur hooks, lazer eyes and so on.
