  2. Same here! It was that way this weekend too! I had a 4 day weekend so I got lots of fishing in, including Eagle Creek on the Kayaks. Didn't catch anything there, did lose one. Anyone know the patterns out there and willing to share? Also I'll upload photos from this weekend later today. Happy Memorial day folks!
  3. Probably that heat, it started out cool, I also got out at 6 but it warmed up quick!
  4. I think I fixed it try reloading. Also I plan on going wading tomorrow night and fishing Eagle Creek from the Yak on Sunday!
  5. Sunday May 20th: Caught so many I lost count. All on a Dirty Jigs Football Jig with a Rage Craw and a War Eagle (*Roll Tide*) Mike McClelland Finesse Spinnerbait. Today: Caught 5 all on the football Jig and Rage Craw
  6. Can you post a link for these? Most places I look jigs are sold in 2 packs of 5+ dollars cost
  7. Anybody been to the Gander Outdoors in Castleton? I need to get some stuff and am having some issues. 1) I refuse to shop at Dick's Sporting Goods now due to their 2A stances. 2) Walmart doesn't have anything that I need and frankly I don't enjoy going into the Walmart in Avon. 3) Meijer only had some of the things I need, although frankly they have a way better sporting goods section than Walmart (thank the lord). 4) Honey Creek Tackle is an hour away and they close one hour after I get off work. Not sure the trip all the way to Castleton is worth it to be honest. The Gander in Avon was supposed to reopen but it didn't. Not that I cared for it much anyways. I miss Galyans.
  8. Why the heck does every jig head (preferably a football head with either an open hook or a weed guard) have to be so expensive! They all cost an arm and a leg. Can any of y'all recommend me a good jighead that is reasonably priced? Thanks
  9. I wish! I really didn't do much as I didn't have room to take my gear or much time to go fishing. That said this year I am bringing my gear, and if I can get an on campus job my truck (and I'm going to buy a kayak to fish Lakes Nicol and Harris). I did get to do some hiking at both lakes and they were absolutely amazing views!
  10. Big fan of the open headed or football headed jig and a hula grub or craw. For someone like you they combine the best of both worlds, 1) You're fishing a plastic on a hook just like a T-Rig 2) The weight is a jig head that sits with the bait so you feel the bait right where it is, not the weight. Personally I would fish one that is a 1/4 or an 1/8 of an oz if you are in shallower water. I have a tendency to underestimate how fast a plastic or jig falls and then see it falling in the water and realize just how fast it falls to the bottom.
  11. Well fellas, After a little of a hiatus, I'm back! School at Alabama was great but glad to be back in Indy for awhile. Have caught a few fish in the last few days but nothing amazing, the fish are just starting to bed so they are not so interested in eating, have to really work for them! Also, to all the Hoosiers that have contributed to this thread, thank you! I had no idea when I created this thread it would go so far.
  12. lol that's the hope. No golfing trips to Camp David trips for me hahaha. And I most certainly will. My roommate's dad has a boat and we are hoping to spend some time on Lake Tuscaloosa for sure!
  13. I will definitely make a point to go see it when I am back on campus for orientation. I'm sure it will be interesting, as I love the history aspect of things. I will most certainly look into those courses as well, I am thinking about minoring in either English or History. The hope is to go to law school at Alabama or another school that offers a dual JD/MBA program where you can get both degrees and sit for BAR or CPA exams in 4 years. Thanks for the well wishes. Roll Tide!
  14. Haven't been there recently, but have been doing some fishing around here. I'd have to get to know you more, maybe if you posted some more stuff here but I'd be interested in fishing with ya around the Avon area.
  15. Thanks! I willl mention that when I was on campus last, I had Dreamland recommended to me by a student, and had to try it. Great ribs, and tons of character! I'm looking forward to some Crimson Tide football, and maybe a few good times at fraternity houses as well. But I will definitely make sure to keep up on the studies, and the fishing! One of my roommates knows a lot of slots that are only 15 minutes away from campus for some great fishing. I most certainly will make sure to be careful with debt. My main goal is to get through my undergraduate degree without any debt and I know I can accomplish that if I am smart with my money, as I have a full tuition scholarship from the university. But I do intend on getting involved in academic pursuits, specifically student government, which has been known as a stomping ground for many who later went on to be leaders in many fields in Alabama and all across the southeast.
  16. I'm certainly planning on looking into that. One of my roommate also likes fishing and hunting and such so hopefully we definitely should get to spend some time outside. Thanks for the well wishes as well.
  17. I'm really looking forward to the fun I should have in the Dixieland. Thanks!
  18. It's official! I just enrolled in the University of Alabam's Class of 2021 to study Political Science and Economics in their College of Arts and Sciences. I am very excited for the new opportunities that await me, including to be able to explore the outdoors in the Tuscaloosa area. Roll Tide!
  19. I also braved the wind about 3 hours or so yesterday when I had the time. The air temp was a balmy 72 degrees, which was a nice change of pace. Very sunny and windy. The wind was so bad I couldn't keep contac with my jerkbait, so I fished mainly a Red Eye Shad instead. My buddy caught a bunch on one as well, it was chrome blue back, but not for long after the fish started to chow down. Only have one to show for it but she was a beauty. Weighed in at 3.48 on the new Rapala scale (which when tested was good to plus or minus a tenth of a pound or so with multiple weights) Also caught a small one, first one of the year, Wednesday evening because the boss let me off early. It was the first time I'd been fishing in a year and I'm glad I've come back to it. It felt great to be on the water and to get that tug again.
  20. I know I've asked about this before, but would anybody be up for a get together of the Indiana guys this month? If anyone is up for meeting for dinner for Saturday, I would be available. Like I said I'd be willing to drive about an hour and am open to suggestions!
  21. I still use 12# XL on a lot of my casting set ups (actually on every one that isn't throwing a contact bait). It's inexpensive, extremely manageable, strong, and relatively sensitive and not very stretch for a nylon line.
  22. Haha, didn't even notice that! Will do. Thanks for the line suggestions.
  23. Do you have a specific line by them that you like better?
  24. What type of line do you prefer to use on your spinning set ups and why? I have one set up that will be used for small jerkbaits and other small harbaits, and one that will be used for all around light soft plastic work. I'm between braid with leader, straight fluoro, or straight Yo-Zuri Hybrid.
  25. Good idea! Thanks for the advice. I have been using silicone inside the door seals and it seems to be doing well. I also need to get some lock Dr-over as I do not have auto locks (stripped down 2004 F-150 XLT SuperCab). Do you know if the we-40 or silicone would work inside the door handle area as well to keep it from freezing up?
