  1. Winter is approaching and some anglers are putting away their gear away until Spring. Unfortunately, I'm addict to fishing now and I don't think I can wait until Spring. Any tips on where and how to fish for bass and what tackle to use? I will be mainly fishing from shore in the central and southern California region.
  2. Used a Strike King KVD Spinnerbait to catch this little guy at Heartwell Park in Long Beach, CA this morning. https://31.media.tumblr.com/a93c8e9f9ee4531046af01055fa591ce/tumblr_nee4damMJT1u2cl63o1_400.jpg
  3. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has responded to my topic.
  4. Thanks. I would have never guessed that. That piece wouldn't happen to have a proper name so I can order the piece does it?
  5. I can't wait until I go back to Diamond Valley. I had a blast hooking up 2-3lbs spotted bass from shore back in April 2014. The best part of that day was hooking up a 7lb catfish on a senko.
  6. I'll be fishing the southern California region. The lakes out here have some great fishing, but are at least a hour's drive without traffic, so ponds and private lakes are where I'll be spending most of my days.
  7. I've always loved fishing, but I took a six year break from it since I began my first semester of college in Los Angeles. I'm starting back up again and I feel completely lost. When I go to a tackle or sporting good store, I'm overwhelmed. It feels like the employee is trying to sell me something I don't need the majority of the time. Currently, I've gone back to what I know about fishing. I have a couple packs of gary yamamoto senkos, roboworms, flukes, two football jigs, two jointed lures, and three jerkbaits. I feel my knowledge about fishing may be too old. So what would be some 'must have things' for my starter kit?
  8. This reel doesn't have a flippin switch.
  9. The thumb bar locks back into position immediately. I can still retrieve my couple feet of line in.
  10. Yes, thumb bar pops back up, locking the spool. It only happens when I make a casting motion. The images show both, thumb bar up and down.
  11. Hello all, I've recently came back to the fishing scene after a six year break. I've been fishing with spinning rods all of my life, but I've decided to switch over to baitcasting. A few weeks back, I traded a striped bass and twelve pack of beer for a Pflueger Purist reel. I'm having an issue with the thumb bar. When I press down on the thumb bar, it locks into position. Once I cast, the thumb bar immediately locks back into the up position, not allowing me to make a cast. Can anyone help me with this problem? I've posted images of it.
