  1. Full disclosure; this reply is from Jeff Schluter of St. Croix Rod. We addressed the tip weight of the previous version Mojo Bass series about two years ago by reducing guide sizes especially the running guides near the tip. This provided much improvement to the overall balance of the Mojo Bass rods. This year (2016) we completely redesigned the Mojo Bass series pushing it to our SCIII graphite blank, the same blank material as used in our Avid and Avid X series. The result is we improved rod balance and reduced overall weight by up to 15% vs. the previous generation. The new Mojo Bass rods feature our IPC tooling technology, and you will see the "IPC" identification on the label. Anyone who was concerned with tip heaviness in the Mojo Bass line will notice a dramatic improvement on the new version. It's new and definitely improved. Thank you for the opportunity to present this information.
  2. Jeff from St. Croix Rod here. We apologize for the problem and want you to know it is an easy fix. The top guide is called a "top" or "tip top". The ceramic ring became dislodged from the frame and is missing which is causing your line fray. The entire top must be replaced and the most efficient way to to contact our Service Center at 1-800-826-7042. Ask for the Service Center and explain you need a new top/tip top for your Mojo Bass rod. We'll need the model # and the serial # (very small label located near the hook-keeper that will have 2 letters followed by 5 numbers). Once we have that info we will send you a new top with glue and instructions for replacing the top guide. The replacement is easy. The other option is to send us the entire rod and we will replace the top. The top guide is the only guide that can be easily replaced within minutes. Thank you.
