  1. Anyone on here fish Clark Hill?
  2. check out the CSRA kayak bass assassins page on facebook
  3. Hey guys. How has the largemouth fishing been going for you so far this month? All I can ever find when searching for fishing reports are reports about striper. I went out with a buddy Monday and we couldn't pay for a bite. We started at first light and hit several points, but never saw the first sign of any fish feeding. Tried jigs and deep running crankbaits as well as top-water off the humps, still nothing. Hope y'all have had better luck than we did!
  4. My dad was excited to see me bringing him some fish, lol. I was reminded why I don't really like fishing early Spring. The bass are all over the place. The pattern seems to be to go up and down every bank, into every pocket and across every point. The top two fish were caught along the rocks at the dam. one was from a rocky point midlake, and the other were midway into a cove. I had 2 fish, on consecutive casts, jump and throw the bait in the very back of that same cove. they were each about the same size as the bottom two.
  5. headed to the lake weds morning! feels like it has been forever since i've been on the water.
  6. i stopped by the dam on my way home just to look around. it was around 3:45 and they had all 7 generators going. the water was only a foot below the pier and it was moving fast! there was only one person fishing, he said the only fish he'd seen caught that day was about 30min before they started. he hadn't had a bite. I was planning to go back up sometime during this week, but i just noticed a burning clutch smell from my transmission (auto.), so i'm pretty sure i'll be spending my next few days off under the truck instead of in the boat.
  7. lol. There's my problem. I waited too late in the day to start. good job sir!
  8. The water temps were in the mid 60's today and we are less than A week away from January!? The lake is about 4ft over full, people cannot get to their docks and there is a LOT of debris floating around (logs, trash from litter bugs, minnow buckets, chairs, large tree branches and logs) I tried shallow, deep, humps, points, pockets, deep brush, trolling, docks and everything in between today. not a bite. Anybody else been out there recently with better luck than what I had today?
  9. I was up there Weds 5/20. Put in at Scott's Ferry at sunrise and noticed the bass were schooling/feeding on several points between the dam and modoc. 5 fish came before 10am, 4 of them were on top water and 1 on a lipless crankbait. Largest was 6lb. I kept 5 that day; 4 out of the 5 were full of eggs. It will be a couple of weeks before I have another opportunity to get up there.
  10. Same here. I've never been a fan of having to bundle up and struggle to stay warm while fishing. A buddy and myself are heading out first thing in the morning to try the savannah river, Jackson SC area. I haven't heard of the stripers making their annual run up the river yet, but that should be happening within the next few weeks. The plan is to start out with a square bill, a white/chartreuse spinner bait and maybe a big creature bait.
  11. so what's the latest news, BrownBear? I've been working 6, 9 & 10 day stretches. Haven't had any time to get out there; all I can do is imagine what it would be like to be fishing while i'm at work.
  12. when i've had fish "bumping" my topwater baits, i realized it was my fault that I wasn't getting hooked up. I was making the bait move too much. when they would go to strike, I would already be in motion to make the lure move out of the fishes way. switched to a frog colored hula popper that doesn't move side to side, and have had much better luck with the topwater bite.
  13. I was marking an awful lot of fish lingering in the 20-25ft range in 30-45ft of water, in the middle of every creek i went in. I assumed they were hybrid/striper. I decided to tie on a couple of deep diving crankbaits and see if i could get one anyway. It didn't take 10min to have a white perch on one of lines, so I didn't bother trying that again (where there is one, there's always a lot more)
  14. I put the boat in the back of Landam Creek, and went over to Wells creek first. Then back across and into Bennington creek before returning to Landam. fished the points in Landam and didn't have a bite. found some small ones schooling in the back that provided a little entertainment before heading home.
  15. fished from around 8:30am - 12 today. Caught my first fish before I got the boat off the trailer (they were feeding on shad behind the boat ramp. Ended up with 4 decent sized bass, several babies, and more than a handful of jackfish. once 11am rolled around, the bite seemed to turn completely off. Some were caught on a hula popper, some on a lipless crankbait, a small square bill, and a plastic lizard carolina rigged, frog patterned color. something pretty large took a lunge at a buzzbait in a foot of water, but it missed the hook. I frantically threw back and around the area with the buzzbait and other baits, but that big one didn't care for any more excitement i guess
