  1. Depends on what kind or rod you want to throw it on and/or what depth you will be fishing in.
  2. Have you ever smelt skirts when they come out of the package? I don't think it will matter.
  3. I was going to give it a name by replacing the L in lizard with a J, but decided not to.
  4. There are two threads with the same questions. One was started by me.
  5. I thought the same thing. More information on how or where the lake is drained to would be helpful.
  6. Your best bet would be cover, the thickest you can find.
  7. Its a three day tournament though. I forgot as well.
  8. Hehe. I see what you did there.
  9. Let's have a little friendly competition. Whoever can guess the final weight of this year's Classic gets....credit. Remember, it's a three day tournament not four. 53 lbs 4 oz is my guess.
  10. Since its a small body of water I'd still focus mostly on the banks unless there is a lot of shad in there. Then I would try to figure out their "daily commute," especially in the summer.
  11. Top five for me... 1. Brandon Palaniuk - solely because I'm rooting for him. Good clear water fisherman. 2. Jason Christie - Might be tied for first with Palaniuk as far as the rooting factor goes . His past stats on this lake beat all. 3. Casey Ashley - he's local and he is the number one pick. 4. Greg Hackney - he's on a roll. 5. Aaron Martens - its more a less a tournament set up around his strengths.
  12. Some will say its not the best technique for dirty water, but I remember Aaron martens tearing it up on the Arkansas River with a drop shot in some rip rap. Muddy water smallies might be a different story.
  13. Sticky?...No?..Maybe? Can links be stickies?
  14. Tackle warehouse.com has a whole bunch of different kinds. Also someone on here probably makes them. If you put up a wtb thread in the flea market, someone might hook you up for a little cheaper.
  15. You may have forgot to attach the file. Its a two step process.
  16. Really a combination of all of those. I've been making a lot of jigs lately, and in my mind, as long as there is black and green pumpkin somewhere in the mix, I have loads of confidence in it.
  17. You went to fishing skirts didn't you?
  18. Matt Allen and guys out west call it a "switchblade jig".
  19. Thanks. I don't like the ones that attach to the hook using tubing and what not. The blade doesn't travel directly behind the bait. I just mold in a wire with a loop at the end when pour the lead for the head. Using a swivel with two split rings on the end, you can attach the blade. I got the idea from Pepper Custom Baits.
  20. They work well in crystal clear waters. The wires give me a little less confidence but think about the A rig.
  21. I usually save the square bills when rock is present and I probably throw chatterbaits as much as swimjigs. But when I was living in central AR last fall through early winter this thing was the deal. Bass pro wants to charge you nine bucks a pop for them. No thanks. I'll make my own. Not a big fan of the wide gap hook, but this is one of the first ones I made, and its the only one that's not all beat up looking from fishing. To the op, spinnerbaits are a long time favorite of mine, but if you'll throw in some variations of it the fish haven't seen as much, you'll be surprised. I broke my pb in December with this variation.
  22. I agree. I've caught more 5 lb + bass on swimjigs than I have any other bait. Plus they double well as a flipping jig.
  23. Any time fish are in shallow cover, but I rarely use them anymore. They have been replaced with the swim jig and chatterbait.
  24. Heavy cover is the first thing I tackle in the cold. Top water frogs? What was the water temperature? In the fiftees I'm guessing?
