I wish they would bring the PQ Tournament back. Same reel just almost 2oz lighter and duralumin gears, shaft, etc. Its hard for me to go back to "yesterdays" gear after fishing with sub 6oz reels for the past few years.
Yes, is it fishing or Barbie dress up time. If a spinning setup is sissy then so is taking a manly baitcaster and making it feminine.
Rippin, it's ur snide comments to people I react to. I'm no kid.
I dunno, but they are a lot of money and you are paying for the bling. I buy BPS Carbonlite handles from Outdoor World in Springfield, MO and have them shipped for free to my nearest store. $15/ea and they a 4 bearing carbon handles. You lose about .1-.2oz of weight of a reel on avg. I'll save my $100.
I just put 10# ultra soft on a light cranking reel. I used it this past Sat for the 1st time and it handles as good as any line I've used. Caught plenty of 15-16" on a 1/2oz spinnerbait. Don't know about its abrasion resistance I fish pretty open water. Seems super strong for 10#.
Depends on the brand of 12# and the diameter. Most 12# is like .33-.35mm. The plane CXX 12# might as well be called 16# line it's thick stuff and breaks at 20lbs. I find it hard to believe you guys haven't snapped off 12# line on the hookset. Knots slip, line fails. The Seaguar and Sunline I'm referring to is super thin less than most 10# of other brands.
Because the 12# is like .280mm in both brands. I've seen and have had both snap like twigs on several trips. Just fishing weightless senkos. Bumped it up to 14# and 15# and haven't had anymore problems.
Sunline and the Seaguar mono handle nice and are at the top of the tier. Both are thin so bump it up to 14# or more if you buy any. Smooth casting mono!!
I wonder about the Yo-Zuri Hybrid "ultra soft". I spooled some up the other night, hooked up to the front door handle and walked off about 20yds. It sure felt like some very stretchy stuff. Perfect cranking line I'm hoping.
The theory of balancing a rod with a reel will never go away. Small amount of weight in the a** end will solve the problem. My Ghost is not tip heavy imo, but I have never felt a custom rod and how they compare in balance.
Yeah, I have a couple Ghosts and don't feel they are tip heavy compared to 90% of the other rods I have felt off the shelf. The 6'10" M is balanced the most in that line, but a little flimsy imo. I think any matte black Lews goes well with the white blank.
I bought a 5.4 reel last year for cranks and big spinnerbaits. It just feels like you're doing less work than the higher ratio reels imo. Gears feel smoother and I can feel the bait more with less resistance. It's what I've noticed anyway.
