  1. I'm a machinist, 95% oil field work, waiting to see what happens in the next month before I pull the trigger for my fishing toys, lol Been hearing mixed results, have to wait it out. Better safe than sorry Thanks for the replies, and best of luck on those tourneys
  2. Thanks for your response I've read some about them too, a guy on the other forum posted some pics of the new 2015's coming out shortly. Sure looked a lot clearer to me. Trees looked just like trees in the si, but again, that could just be me, lol Technology sure has came a long ways!
  3. Y'all are right about the graphs, si/di ect. I'm needing to purchase new graphs, read tons of stuff on both Lowrance an the HBird. Leaning toward Lowrance, the spotlight scan really got my attention, without having the big system mounted on tm for the 360 deg with the bird. But, wow it is sharp too My concern is, I'm kinda tough on my tm at times lol I'm aware this is like a ford or Chevy subject BUT.. .... Could y'all throw me some pro's an cons about them. Haven't seen the si in action, spotlight scan or the 360, just you tube vid's If I should have posted this in another topic, feel free to move it. Thanks in advance PS an you hit the nail on the head about other forums (TFF) not much there
  4. Fishcaller, what was you using in the grass/pads to catch yours on? I really got hooked on "frog" fishing several years ago, an will throw a ribbit frog year round, more productive with water temp a little warmer though
  5. Just signed up to this forum, but have read thru it for awhile. Really enjoy seeing people sharing "useful" knowledge. Some forums seem to get pretty tight lipped about certain lakes. I enjoy fishing for large mouth bass and the two lakes i fish most is Sam Rayburn And T-Bend. Have a camp close to Harvey Creek Park and fish that area of the lake mostly. But at times I'll visit the Bend, both are terrific lakes with all kinds of different structure. I do not fish tourneys, I enjoy pleasure fishing an enjoy all the beautiful nature around the lakes. Happy Holidays Everybody an I'm looking forward to read an share good useful tips.
  6. Hello everyone, I'm a newbie on this forum. Have read several post an enjoyed what I read, especially w/o all the negative response you seem to have on other forums, just something about Big Sam, most locals don't care to share Anything. To each there own. I enjoy reading others advice they are willing to share, an don't mind sharing what little I know. My boat stays at my camp, so Big Sam is usually the only lake I fish, at times I venture over to the Bend. IMO they are both Excellent lakes, structure, grass, woods, creeks ect. I ramp at Harvey Creek, an 90% of the time fish that area. Black Forest, Indian Creek, Hog Branch, Harvey, 147 Flats. My biggest hang up, and something I really am going to work on this next year, is getting away from the shallow water. Trying to save up for a decent graph, and start fishing deeper water. My Dad always seemed to fish shallow water, an caught some nice fish in the hydrilla an backs of creeks, But I sure have read where y'all seem to be doing good out deeper at certain times of the year. Hope I can gain some info from y'all thru out the following weeks months years ect. Just fished Indian Creek, but headed back towards the back instead of working my way towards the lake side. Truth be told, got skunked!! Not ashamed to say it, that lake can be great one day, and brutal the next. And as y'all all know, the wind can be a "small" factor! Lol If I can be of any help, please ask away I'm sure hoping a newer graph an advice on here will help me catch a few more. Happy Holidays Everybody Sorry so long, just trying to introduce myself to a fantastic forum!
