  1. love the expression! the joy of fishing. so much better than the angry one.
  2. ^ x2 check the rating.
  3. So i found out the crankin' stick can throw lures down to 5/16 comfortably. 1/4 was sort of pushing it. So I picked up a lightweight spincasting rod, paired it up with bass pro crappie baitcaster and now i can throw lures down to 1/8 oz comfortably. Here's a pic and I also posted a video in the fish report (http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/157555-lightweight-baitcaster/).
  4. So I was in search of something that can cast lightweight lures (1/8 oz) and I came across this combo. I teamed up a lightweight spincasting rod by southbend with a bass pro crappie baitcaster. Spooled with 4 lbs test I can throw 1/8 oz comfortably. Here's a video of me throwing everything from 1/8 to 3/16 oz crankbaits. Thanks BR for the resources. https://youtu.be/LBV0FhF0wE4
  5. I have a Shimano Chronarch 200 that can throw 1/8 ounce crankbait so I think the Shimano 50 can handle it and better.
  6. If you're throwing less than 3/16 I would get an UL rod but anything more ill get a light or ML (depends on brand). The reason for a lighter and more whippy rod is to get the light lures out there. The same rule goes for line. If it's less than 3/16 throw 2 lbs. I like Izzor line. If you have cash look into phenix exilir. I find it light enough to throw light lures down to 1/32 but enough backbone to set the hook.
  7. In the pfleuger trion under the o/s gear #56 am I suppose to put oil or grease? It's where the gear spins and sits on the body of the reel. I'm curious if putting grease will cause the gear to not spin properly. Thanks
  8. Try swimbaits or senkos. That's how I started.
  9. All my lipless crank baits have rattles in them, and I am hooking fish. It just depends on what they want that day. Some days it's /w the rattles and others without them. It also depends on how they are feeding. Are they chasing baitfish? Are they suspended? Are they in vegetation? Or are they deep? Also vary up the retrieve. Sometimes that helps.
  10. Daiwa lexa! I have three and haven't failed me yet. I fish both fresh and salt on them.
  11. If you can pinch pennies and save up for a low down custom rod. I have two brands and that one by far is the best. They run for 250 shipped but can be found $150 used. Get the XH!
  12. Gander has the Chronarch for 160. Is worth the extra 30?
  13. Haha I was fooled at first too! I actually googled it "mb mini."
  14. Grateful for the wealth of info! I'm coming from a local fish forum and I feel so much more welcomed and edified here. No one is bashing me for asking too many questions. It seems like people here are wiser and more patient. Currently leaning towards the shimano chron 50e and try to throw 3/16 + cranks Thanks BR!
  15. Are you guys refering to this reel? Lews Tournament MB Speed Spool https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-LEWREEL.html?from=basres
  16. What is everyone's thoughts on the bass pro crappie Max mighty lite? Does it serve my purposes?
  17. What do you use? Crankbait. The reason for baitcaster and light crankbaits is because I cast and retrieve more efficently on a baitcaster. ================================================ Do any of you recommend the Daiwa Lexa 100 for light crankbaits (1/4 oz)? Its currently on sale at TW for $70.
  18. I read articles and threads on how lighter line throws lures further because of less drag but are there any cons to throwing a 2 lbs test on a Rod rated for 4-6 lbs?
  19. Out of three which one did you like? How light did you go?
  20. No more than 150 preferably around $100. Any thoughts on the Bps ProQ?
  21. I mainly want to throw 5/16 to 1/8. The current line up of shimano 50s are out of my budget. Can you tell me more about ***? Will *** handle light lures? What are some other light reel currently available and not being sold on the black market?
  22. Reasons for the low gear ratio?
  23. I am getting the BPS crankin stick medium light. I hope to throw light lures on light line. What reel do you recommend?
