  1. Here's a pic of the Purple Smoke color in a basses' mouth. As you can see it's a lot clearer than it looks under certain light.
  2. I would pitch a texas-rigged rage craw over the box, drag it up the box, and let it fall inside. Hey presto! You have yourself a bass
  3. They're a great bait for flipping and pitching! Great chunky body and hook slot.
  4. Been trying this year to get into some newer and classic baits that everybody uses that I haven't tried yet. These are all baits/techniques I haven't used before this year: -Rage Cut'R Worm: Been whacking bass on this all year long -Rage Craw: Great bait for a t-rig and trailer. -Berkley Havoc Pit Boss: Haven't caught a ton of fish on this, but I really like it. -Keitech Swing Impact: Great swimbait, I see why everybody loves them. -Shakey-heads. LOVE these! Used to think they were a deep-water technique, but been whacking bass on them shallow. Been getting into chatterbaits also, but have yet to catch a fish on one.
  5. What kind are those blue rods? Are those the Ethos you talk about a lot?
  6. Yep, the color is awesome. Hold it up against a light and it looks clear. Hold it against a dark object and it seems a ton more solid. Caught several nice bass on it, it's a killer clear water color.
  7. I believe all star rods used to be owned by Pure Fishing, they brought down the quality a lot from what I've heard. I thought they owned several other companies that used to be top notch, I guess I must have been thinking of somebody else......I could have sworn it was them, though. my mistake. Apology extended for misrepresenting them.
  8. Unfortunately, it's not that interesting. Pure Fishing has brought the quality level of many fishing companies down.
  9. Those are some beautiful bream!
  10. It can be done, although the smoothness and overall accuracy of your pitch will deteriorate.
  11. I have one nice reel, and that is a Lew's Tournament MG Speed Spool. Maybe not nice in your book, but I love it. Both of my rods, a Berkley Lightning spinning and an Abu Vengeance casting, are cheap. My spinning reel was gotten for free, and is quite cheap. I'm hoping to replace it in the next year or so, but it works. My old spinning combo that gave up on me was a very old Shimano combo. That rod, despite it's chunky guides and reel handle, is far lighter than both my other rods, and the reel is a tank. Although they broke from the considerable abuse my combos get on the bank, and from age, they were a dream to fish. The only quality combo I've owned. Bottom line: Cheap equipment works, but high-end equipment works far better and lasts longer. The next time I purchase some equipment, I'll get something nice and consider it an investment.
  12. I always though I looked a little weird in these photos, but it's the bass that counts, which I consider quite pretty. Great lateral line on that fish. This was my previous pb.
  13. It works pretty well. I bought some homeade jigs from a former FLW coangler, and he gave me a bag of chunks with toothpicks in all of them. He explained how it works, and I've been doing it ever since. It makes a trailer last a lot longer.
  14. Yep, it's worked pretty well for me in clear water. There's been a decent amount of rain lately here so the water's a little murky, though.
  15. Saw the vid on Youtube. Great job!
  16. Ah, I see. Wasn't sure if that was your alternate name for the Ned Rig. Can't wait to see what you came up with.
  17. I went on Sunday afternoon and I am feeling practically sick from wanting to fish.....
  18. He's done a fair bit of pitching at that pond
  19. Get some rattling jigs, might help.
  20. Nice work Brian!! You'll have to come up with a custom Ned rig bait. Did well last week on some of the baits you poured, and have been using the Skinny Dippers as a chatterbait trailer. Really like them.
  21. Will do. Thanks for the effort and time ya'll put in to make BR the awesome place it is.
  22. Spinnerbaits have never been producers on my two main ponds. I've crushed bass on them elsewhere, but not in my local waters. I'm giving chatterbaits a lot more time in the water. Trying to catch a fish on one.
  23. Looks nothing like my Bitsy Flip. Maybe the Bitsy bug?? And your trailer is too torn to stay on the hook. Try a toothpick stuck across the sides of the bait. Trim it down, and stick your hook behind it. It'll last a lot longer.
  24. That's friggin awesome! Way to be a trooper! I'll think of you next time I feel like complaining about fishing in the hot NC sun........
