  1. jmoore020965, I'm expecting this thread to get locked pretty soon. So, I have an idea. If none of us can help you with this topic, and you're so frustrated with our responses, how 'bout just go out and test it for yourself? I love testing things on the water, it makes my day so much more fun. I'd love to hear what you find about throwing one vs. the other. Good luck with your search. And BTW: At BR we're all about learning and sharing knowledge. Please don't let the way this thread has gone shape your view of our forums. A little more openmindedness to your approach, and you'll learn a ton. I've just started to throw chatterbaits myself, and am gaining confidence in them. I prefer them to Rat'LTraps, in fact, the only time I throw Rat'LTraps is in early spring, where a red lipless crankbait kills them, in fall, and occasionally for night fishing. Once in a blue moon, I'll pull them out. But I fish chatterbaits more. It's not a clearcut answer, I've just found that lipless crankbaits work better in some scenarios and chatterbaits work best overall. With lipped crankbaits, they are a specific depth lure for me. Not a count down, all depths type of bait: I throw them to target a specific span of water and I throw different ones depending on conditions and cover in the area. And here's one for the thread: When would you throw a swim jig vs. a chatterbait?
  2. Yep!
  3. My pet peeve is when people leave the hook in the holder and then turn the reel so that the rod is bent almost double and then just throw it in the back of their truck. Drives me nuts!
  4. Get a citica! You can get older models for 50 on ebay, or newer models for 80 to 90 dollars. Great deal.
  5. I can throw a chatterbait in places where I would be a little more hesitant to throw a ratltrap. A chatterbait is a little quieter than a Trap, although it has more vibration and flash. Good question, I really don't know the answer!
  6. Nice job man!
  7. A Rage Cut'R worm with flanges on either end for wacky rigging......... A senko with craw pinchers on one end for texas rigging........ A huge jerkbait/swimbait combination. The design and action of a jerkbait, the size of a huge swimbait........ and last but not least, Megabass baits for the price of Strike Kings!!
  8. I really like VMC spinhshot hooks.
  9. Nice! Just don't drop the laptop haha
  10. I asked Mark Zona, who is pretty knowledgeable about the fishery, and he said that grass and shallow cranking will dominate. Hence, I'm going with those strengths. I have my roster decided for the most part. -JPow Mark Zona also said that Jacob Powroznik has been doing his homework for this event for over a year and would be a hot stick on the fishery. I usually like to stick with at least one fan favorite per roster, so this was an easy choice. Keith Combs, Skeet Reese, Bobby Lane, and Greg Hackney were all really hard to pass up. Especially Bobby Lane. But my money is set on JPow -Bill Lowen Bill Lowen, the famed shallow water fisherman, at 0.7%? I am a huge Ike fan, but I couldn't swallow the overwhelming 61.5% he's at. That's pretty crazy. I know he'll do well, but I need to set myself apart from the crowd. -Ken Iyobe Ken is a fantastic shallow flipper/cranker, and also an underestimated one. He got a top twelve at the Sacramento River, another shallow tidal fishery. Look out for Iyobe! Tommy Biffle was hard to pass up, as well as Andy Montgomery. -Fred Roumbanis No surprises here. Fred has set himself apart as a great shallow water fisherman, and I am NOT going with B Hite, or Casey Ashley or Takahiro Omori like everybody always does. -Cliff Prince There's always one bucket where I just feel like I don't care whom I pick. Prince got a good result at a tidal fishery tourney in the past, and he's a Floridan, so I went with him. This is gonna be a fun one!
  11. WD40 is awesome!
  12. I would let it swim again, with a picture of the scale. People will believe you, and it doesn't have to be official.
  13. Rosters are locked in 9 days, so make sure you get your team picked! I'm looking to make up ground lost at the St. Lawrence, and have a lot of thinking to do for this one. Not ready to share my roster yet, but I'm looking for dark horses who can flip grass and crank shallow, and I'm doing everything I can to not pick Ike since he has 64% ownership. Everyone know's he'll do well. Looking forward to the event!
  14. That's pretty darn awesome.
  15. Wow that was funny. He didn't even get to reel in his fish lol.
  16. Ask 'em to give you 200 dollars credit to their store for compensation
  17. Mark seems like the nicest guy on earth, but this situation was enough to make a saint get mad. The life of a bass fisherman . http://www.bassmaster.com/news/incident-lakeside-landowner-leaves-menendez-fuming
  18. Haha well I still drink soda occasionally, but not often. Of course, just about everything I eat is unhealthy and unless I decide to go completely organic or something than I can't fix the problem just by dropping soda or anything. I just thought it was interesting about the heroin effect and the fact that your body's "gut" reaction is to puke when drinking that much sugar.
  19. Check out this dude's tricked out kayak, it's pretty awesome:
  20. Are you saying it's ridiculous as in an unbelievable performance, or are you saying it's ridiculous as in he shouldn't be there?
  21. I actually got razzed unmercifully last month about making burger patties too fat at a family reunion, they turned out to be more grilled meatballs than burgers. So yeah, I can take meatloaf haha. And I actually like it.
  22. Couldn't get the colored wheel Got some ground to make up after losing 2 points this tournament. I'm really doing my homework for the chesapeake bay: Points: 6,112 Rank: 1,768 Overall Pct: 94.5 %
  23. I have one baitcaster, and one spinning reel. I personally wouldn't do it, but I'm sure you have your reasons. Once again, nice catch.
  24. I agree with you. Everything in moderation .
