  1. I'm no expert, but its pretty hard to keep a chatterbait on the bottom, even in shallow water. Spinnerbaits are much better at this. Strike King makes a Bottom Dweller that would be a perfect choice.
  2. Saw the vid two days ago. That's a hawg! On a topwater, too!
  3. What rod are you using?
  4. I didn't figure out much last fall, but this fall, I'm hoping I can can stop fishing all these finesse techniques (fish aren't biting much else right now) and start catching them on chatterbaits, liplesses, topwater, ect. Buzzbait bite should get good.
  5. I work very hard on my techniques. The two biggest things for me this year were not specific baits. 1. Presenting quietly: Flipping, Pitching, and Casting without making a big splash. This is huge! 2. Skipping: I've caught a lot of bass under docks that nobody who fishes my ponds can get under.
  6. Just a regular book bag: I can fit a lot in it, although I try pretty darn hard to keep the weight down due to increased ease of operation. Funny story: I carry around a big leafblower just about every workday. This weeked I was fishing, and I suddenly thought, "Oh no! I must have left one of my heavier boxes out of the backpack when I was rigging up." I unshouldered the bag and looked inside; nope, everything was there. Then I remembered that compared to the big Shindaiwa leaf blower, my backpack is a dream. I used to think it was really heavy!
  7. #PRESH!
  8. Nice work bro!
  9. Dadgum northern STUDS!
  10. I've never done fantasy for an AOY championship, but these were the easiest rosters (for peace of mind) I've ever picked, because everybody in this thing has been doing well. A: Aaron Martens: How can you not pick the guy??? B: Matt Herren: Did some research on him, incredible dark horse pick C: Randy Howell: Good solid pick, hard to go wrong with Randy D: Chad Pipkens: This tournament sets up for him (yet again) and he's on tremendous momentum after St. Clair and Chesapeake Bay. E: Jonathon VanDam: Of course Am I the only one who's getting tired of watching dropshotting on Bass Live? I hope they mix it up a little this time. Good luck, guys.
  11. I'm a fantasy nut, I even make spreadsheets and such with angler's performances and strength. It's been a decent year for me, also my first year following B.A.S.S. (and fantasy fishing!). Just curious, do you just pick your instincts, or do you do a lot of research? I found that my better events are with instincts. This next year, I think I'm going to start F.L.W. fantasy as well. And what do you get in the Strike King package?
  12. And the nice thing is, literally within seconds, I can drop the worm and be fishing it like a normal texas rig.
  13. I use this technique all the time with the Rage Cut'R worm, fastest tail action of any worm. (or so they claim) I rig it with a 3/0 Straight Shank hook, 1/4 oz. bullet weight pegged or sometimes I'll just leave it loose. I've caught quite a few fish with that setup.
  14. Once, my friend caught a nice 2 3/4 pound bass on a magnum trick worm. As he released it, the fish started swimming off, and I stopped watching it because I thought I saw my line jump, so I set the hook. Nothing on the line. Well, apparently, that bass my friend had caught had been swimming right past my line when I thought there was another fish on it, and I flared the worm right in his face when I set the hook. So, of course, he ate it! I caught the exact same bass only about 15 seconds after he had released it.
  15. I saw somebody do that with a deer on the side of the road. Made my day driving by
  16. Ones I don't like? Two words for ya, Bass Pro! Don't like their jigs at all.
  17. Is megastrike not a specific brand? Personally, I think fish sticks are pretty processed. Now give me some fresh seafood, that's what I'm talking about!
  18. Tubes are one of my new favorite baits. Those things are bass slayers.
  19. The more I fish, the more I learn from the seasoned veterans on here, the more expensive equipment and fancier colors I get, the more I learn; these four letters have a heck of a lot of truth in them: K.I.S.S. !!! I have found that two combos work best for me fishing from the bank. I don't bring a whole lineup of 7 rods and reels with me. I worked through all the tackle I don't use and traded it away. I consolidated my tackle into fewer plano boxes. My back thanks me when I'm walking around a pond . What's the point of having 1,000s of dollars worth of tackle sitting in your garage that you never take out fishing with you? Give some of it to a kid who's learning how to fish. In the end, no matter your budget or ideas of simplicity, you can go out and enjoy catching fish.
  20. I had my worst tourney of the year. Dropped to 92%. Some meager 600 points or something. Can't do well every time. Picking dark horses wasn't the problem, picking the right ones was .
  21. Just out of time bro
  22. Met the owner of Big Joshy Swimbaits online, and got a package he graciously sent my way today. His company is legendary in Ohio, and I'm willing to bet I'll have some NC bass fooled by his products as well. And yes, that is a craw/swimbait. Coolest thing ever!
  23. My first big bass was a 2 1/2 pounder on a red Super Spot. Fun fight on a spincast combo.
  24. I've wanted to try the Vile Craw and Exostick for a while now. Gonna have to......
