  1. I have no mother freaking idea how I made it back to the top 5 because today was a nightmare. Hartman made it and that's it. This is one of those events I didn't go with my gut picks but chose to go with my heavily researched picks and that didn't go so well. I wanted to replace Hartman with wheeler on the final day but chose to leave the roster alone, and I also really wanted to pick Feider. Hindsight is 20/20 lol.
  2. Rage Craw all day, every day.
  3. I joined this site as a little kid crazy about fishing and I had just recently discovered the senko. I remain a little kid to most of you, still crazy about fishing, and still love the senko. Just not quite as much.
  4. Ya win some, ya lose some haha. Y'all heard me crow about having a good event last week, so no sore losing this week. At least I didn't pick the Vandams. The good news is that the weights are really, really stacked so anything is possible tomorrow.
  5. I'm really hoping BassTrakk is off today haha
  6. Saw that. Works for me lol. I wanted a balance of guys who would fish more conservatively with guys who would make the run so I could have both sides covered.
  7. Having the rosters open another day has not been good on my nerves...I keep second guessing every pick. Haven't switched anyone out yet, but I might do it last second.
  8. Here's what I'm thinking about the cancellation - it's going to hurt the smallmouth guys and help the largemouth guys. Having a clear day tomorrow to run to Ticonderoga will be crucial. Also, the anglers weren't sure if there were enough largemouth up there for 4 days of catching. Now they only have to worry about three days and can hit the fish a little harder instead of saving them. I totally knew that -I gave out all my fake picks so that they would be copied and then I could reveal the real winning team once the tourney starts.
  9. Wow, this could really change things up. "Weldon noted that Elite Series rules call for the full field of 109 anglers to compete on Friday and Saturday, and the final round will include the Top 51 competitors on Sunday." Not sure if I'm a fan but I guess that's the best they can do.
  10. Day one on Lake Champlain was cancelled due to weather. Here's what I've got going: Bucket A: Jamie Hartman This was a no brainer for me; not only is he from NY and killing the elite series on his rookie year, he has way more experience on this lake than most of the other guys do. He's fished it a lot and even has a win here in an FLW tournament. Despite an article just published on bassmaster describing him being in "panic mode" this week because he's never fished this lake under the current conditions, I'm hoping he'll do well here. (Although that article was a little scary). I also wanted to pick Brandon Palaniuk and Jacob Wheeler. Bucket B: Dave Lefebre I wanted Dave on my team for two reasons. For one, like Hartman, he probably has the most experience on this lake out of all the Elite guys and he's really good here. He's been getting top tens on Champlain for a very long time. Secondly, I wanted someone who has the guts to run down to Ticonderoga and fish for largemouth and Dave has always done that here. I also wanted to pick Jacob Powroznik and Seth Feider. Bucket C: Skeet Reese While history played a key role in me picking the other two guys previously, Skeet doesn't have a lot of history here except a 2nd place finish. But I know the level of competition that Skeet is capable of, and I know he doesn't belong in bucket C. With the Classic on everybody's mind, I predict Skeet will perform well here. I considered Kennedy and a couple other guys, but ultimately went with Skeet. Koby Kreiger: Just like Hartman and Lefebre, I was surprised to see -not just how many times Kreiger has fished this place - but how many times he's been in the money. He obviously has something figured out about Lake Champlain, and for that reason he ended up on my roster. I surprised myself by passing up Justin Lucas and Chad Pickens here. Bucket E: Jesse Tacoronte With a bucket utterly devoid of active success, my goal for bucket E was to find literally anyone with some experience on the lake. Turns out, Jesse has had two very solid tournaments here recently in the Bassmaster Opens, and for that reason I chose him for my team (at considerably low ownership). Whether or not he's the secret weapon I'm hoping for, I didn't feel like I could rely on anyone in his bucket and he seemed like he had the best chance. Let the games begin (tomorrow)! I'm a little nervous about my picks. We shall see.
  11. Put in my usual research for the rosters this week - a lot more research went into this event than the last one. I have what I think is a solid roster, and a couple of secrets/dark horses that I think will do pretty well. Time will tell if they pay off, but I think it's time to return to my roots and put a couple of dark horse guys on my roster. I think the hardest part was picking between Lefebre, Powroznik, and Feider in Bucket B. They're all studs and I think they will all do really well here. Bucket A is full of talent; you could pick someone with your eyes closed and they would do well. I had to decide between the AOY contenders and the people who will also do well but aren't at the top.
  12. x10 except bucket D has potential
  13. No complaints from me! 2015 Lake Guntersville I picked the winner and got 4 in the top 12. This is my second best showing. And thanks for the support ??. Always a class act to watch KVD. He's scary good. Huge congrats to him on his 24th. Do I wish I had picked him? Yeah. But I'm still glad that my bucket A pick went though to today even though I didn't have Kevin. I'm moving on to Lake Champlain sitting third in the group and in the 96th% overall....I'm excited for this next one.
  14. If you know me you'll not be surprised that I'm already researching Champlain ?
  15. Three of my guys (JVD, Palaniuk, and Jones) made the top ten with all five 25th place or better. The dream team got it done.
  16. Another thing is that I put in a winning weight for the event, but my internet was being really slow that day and it never ended up registering...didn't realize that until yesterday. So I have no tiebreaker weight. And yes, it would suck. I would definitely pour over the official rules and give bassmaster a couple of calls. But at the end of the day, I would do the right thing.
  17. Well, that would be fun. But here's the shocker haha, I don't play to win. In fact, I'm legally ineligible to win the event since I'm under 18 years of age, so I would have to forfeit any prizes. I play because I love the sport.
  18. Still a few people left to weigh in, but my guys smashed the fish on day two. I made it to 95% last night and I think I'll probably move up another point or two. Everybody made the cut with ease.
  19. He and JVD are good friends; when they're on smallmouth and doing well they push each other and are highly competitive. It's no surprise to see them neck to neck in the top 15.
  20. I was shocked to see that the 50 cut yesterday was Jacob Wheeler with no less than eighteen pounds. This is one heck of a slugfest. Guys that were in 60th and 70th place yesterday could easily jump quite a few places with a couple of footballs.
  21. wait, the weighin is over... My boys: Brandon Palaniuk: 72nd (didn't see that coming haha!) Seth Feider: 2nd Alton Jones: 19th Jonathan VanDam: 14th Chad Pipkens: 37th The weights are stacked, and I'm confident that Palaniuk can rebound from a poor day one (even though he had 15 pounds). My other guys are doing great.
  22. I've never had a team that I felt better about...haven't changed a thing since 6 weeks ago! Hopefully they perform as well as my expectations haha.
  23. I caught some small stripers off the marina on the Sound side of the island, but no one catches them on the side we were fishing.
  24. I'm sure the mods will see this, but @Glenn might be the one to talk to.
  25. Haha, very funny. I'm going to catch a 7 pounder on one of those jigs and upload the pic to BR ?
