Oh, and I believe a member caught a fish on a ladle a while back. Might be remembering it wrong, but I think he caught it out of a koi pond in a Chinese restaurant.......
I have snagged two. Interestingly, one of them, upon discovering that he was hooked, made a run for the middle of the pond, where he somehow managed to scrape off my bait on a log or something. All I know is that the carp was gone and I was hung up. Losing both the carp and my lipless wasn't fun haha.
I've caught fish with a bare hook before! On of my favorite YouTubers did a gummy worm challenge, he ended up catching a fish by dropshotting a twizzler.
I've also seen some a YouTuber from "Brendan's Fabulous World of Fishing" catch fish on toilet paper, pine needles, etc.
There's a club dedicated to the art of Scrounga fishing. You may want to check it out. The only requirements for joining are owning three-piece travel rods and catching a DD per club trip.
I would live with a big flipping stick! Cover enough water with a Rage Craw or something and you're bound to get bites eventually. You also could try going right through them by upping your tackle and punching.
Thread the trailer onto the hook as you'd normally do, and push the soft plastic up onto the the trailer rigging wire. It helps hold your bait in place. It works pretty well, although it tears up your bait a little more than usual.
As long as it's within legal ramifications, keeping fish shouldn't drastically harm a body of water's population. I'd say there's more C + R anglers than ever before, I certainly see far more throwing the fish back than eating them, especially with bass.
