  1. I live with jigs in the winter as well, great cold water technique.
  2. Pardon my ignorance, the only thing I know about it is the Bassmaster tournament ( believe it was 2012) that Britt Meyers almost won by longlining. The winner was doing it as well. I don't think that Bill is fishing tournaments, he didn't state it was fast current either.
  3. Oh yeah, this is his post: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/162640-good-news-my-doctor-yesterday/
  4. Didn't he say he was hoping to get back into it though?
  5. I'll say it again, you simply have to paint it pink!
  6. I bought one earlier this spring, out performs every other buzzbait in my arsenal. I love it, have caught dozens of fish on it. Only problem is, I can't seem to find it now. It's called a Cyclone Original Buzzbait. Nothing fancy but it really works.
  7. Finesse fishing from shore is about all I've been able to do this summer.....fishing in the South has been tough, at least where I live. You'll quickly learn that a dropshot and shakeyhead aren't just vertical lures!
  8. Nice work Evan. Unfortunately, I don't have the patience for small minute work like that. I would get far too frustrated, and I'm not a perfectionist either. I'd much rather have a rod built for me than build it myself.
  9. You might want to look into longlining, but I've heard it's a slooow process.
  10. Bill, you seem passionate about helping younger kids get into fishing. I'd highly recommend helping out as many kids you can with excess stuff! I take care of my excess stuff by giving it away or trading it with BR members. I've gotten reels, baits that I do use, ect. I don't have anything I don't throw annually. I also have something about organizing the stuff I do have, I love organization and orderliness with tackle. In fact, I would be in heaven organizing your tackle room. Sounds like a great winter project.
  11. If I wasn't a bass angler, I would so totally see what was inside that fish......
  12. Thanks guys! Appreciate the help. He also gave identical setups to each of my brothers....I may or may not be able to get my hands on another in a couple years . Considering the fact that my little bro doesn't fish.
  13. So first of all, let me say I'm not a custom rod builder nor have I had one built for me. But I absolutely love looking at your guys' work. Unbelievable. Every single one makes me want to get a custom myself, and I'm seriously considering purchasing one the next time I need a rod. I love seeing custom rods, and I eagerly follow every build on here. I'd love to have a thread where all the customs are in one place. Even if you create a separate thread for the build, if you could just post a finished product picture on here, it would make a great way to have everything compiled so that we can go back and look through one thread instead of digging through dozens of archive pages. I know for one that if you guys started posting past and current finished builds on here, I could look at it for hours. I don't think I'm the only one .
  14. His name isn't Aldo Rasado, by any chance?? There was a joke behind what I said.
  15. So there's this older man in my church who has amassed a huge, and I mean a huge, collection of tackle over the years; he fished FLW as a coangler for a while and now he fishes tournaments in the area almost every weekend. In an extremely generous gesture, he gave me a custom rod and a Shimano Bantam Curado last night! It's my first Shimano caster, and I know little to nothing about it, but I knew ya'll could help me out. The reel seems like a workhouse, and I love it. But I would like to get new handles for it....something more like the current curado or cronarch handles. What kind of handles will fit on the reel? I've never switched out handles before, so I know absolutely nothing. Also, what's the difference between a Bantam and a Bantam B:51? Lastly, he popped off the side plate so quickly last night that I thought I would be able to duplicate it equally, but I can't seem get them off, and I don't want to break it trying to go about it the wrong way. How do you get it off? Thanks guys.
  16. C'mon man, you haven't tried bass scented hush puppies? They're THE BOMB!
  17. Wait for it!!! Pink Rat'L Traps!
  18. I think it just is wrapped around, not inside. Don't take it apart until you try unwinding the loose end from the handle/drag.
  19. You're good, bro. If we're going to help, it's beneficial to know more information. I'd definitely be targeting that fallen tree, and fishing a texas rig (weighted) on the mud. I'd suggest a Rage Craw as a killer texas rig bait, and a 1/4 oz. bullet sinker.
  20. First of all, this is kind of confusing. By "lures" do you mean hard baits? Also, how do you know that the bass are only up to one pound? Almost every pond is going to have at least one lunker that's bigger than the rest, I've found that with every small pond I've fished. I would suggest a wacky rigged trick worm, senko, dropshot, shakeyhead, small popper, or inline spinner. Those are all great ways to get a lot of bites. Also, it would help to know if there's any cover in the pond.
  21. Love that ***, bro!
  22. Are you related to Jeb Bush, by any chance?
  23. I would steer clear of those personally.
  24. I've found some killer deals at Walmart; it's my place to go when I need a couple of things or the bait monkey is leading me to get something on sale (I'm a sucker for sales ). My main complaint with them is the employees. You know how some people look like they're having a bad day? Well, the outdoor section employees in my walmart look like that every day, and they don't treat you very nicely. BPS is pretty good, especially for rods and reels, I enjoy going there.
  25. I've caught bass so small that the hook was about as wide as the mouth lol.
