  1. I would try to find a local who fixes rods. I did that when my favorite rod got broken at the tip like yours, and he made it look brand new for $20 bucks.
  2. cold pizza all the way!!
  3. It's so humid right now in north carolina, and we're stuck in the 70s and 80s. It feels sticky outside and certainly nothing like fall weather. I'm hoping it cools off before the state fair.
  4. I’ve been addicted to bodybuilding for two years now. It’s hard to put on serious size when I’m 6’2 and have a 16 year old metabolism, but I’m in the gym every spare minute I have and it’s become not only a hobby but almost a therapy for me as well. There’s nothing like getting off a long shift at Chicfila, putting on some music, shutting out the world, and smashing weights for an hour. Nothing too graphic ?
  5. I also think it's valuable to include Bassmaster's High School and College programs in this discussion. I think they are fantastic ways to give the kids experience without personally having to sacrifice a financial arm and leg to participate. These programs, imho, are the future of Bassmaster. Just look at Jordan Lee. I would imagine that Bassmaster is relying on these programs to invest in the sport and raise up future talent and are using the Opens for financial gain. This model leaves out the post-college, weekend anglers who want to try to go professional.
  6. I'm currently setting a record for most consecutive days without fishing. Not a fun time when you have to put the rods down because of life. But I'll be in the Blue Ridge Mountains this upcoming weekend and will be able to get some fishing in, so I'm really looking forward to that.
  7. Lol, I wonder why you're getting those?
  8. Part of fishing bladed jigs (for me, at least) is forcing myself to pause, let the bait sink, and reel slowly. Other times, I burn the bait almost as a subsurface presentation. A lot of times I have to remind myself that just because I can't feel a crazy fast vibration doesn't mean the chatterbait isn't working. A slow presentation feels more like gradual thumping and you can still have good connection to the bait even at slow speeds. @Bluebasser86 could tell you a lot more than I could.
  9. I don't mind throwing a bright lipless or spinnerbait in muddy water, and I love fishing a black and blue jig in those situations as well. But man, the most fun I've ever had bass fishing is clear water sight fishing. Not only during the spawn, but in some situations just being in water so clear that you can see everything. I fished this one lake where I rowed out to the middle and dropped some pieces of corn in the water. Bluegills got to a lot of them, but I watched several pieces sink and sink and eventually fall out of sight some 20 feet down. Most crystal-clear water I've ever been on. I love being able to watch a bass and present a lure to it. There's something so addicting about seeing that little "slurp" as the bass inhales your bait and then timing your hookset so you don't ruin the presentation.
  10. I know there are several of us who are really serious, but I don't want to scare away anybody from the group if they just want to have a good time. We should create an unofficial elite pool where those who want to can participate in a prize format among ourselves, and those who wish to keep money out of it don't have to pay to play. All in the same group, of course.
  11. I had such a fun time doing this with you guys - it not only brought out my competitive side but it was a lot of fun too. I can't freaking wait till next year, and maybe we can cook up some new ideas and prizes for the group as well! I did.
  12. Edit: It's official! The fantasy results are in. Congrats to alk402 on taking the W and the Circuit City Giftcard!
  13. Major congratulations to Keith Combs, Dustin Connell, and Brandon Palaniuk on a fantastic year and event!
  14. First 5+ pounder, first saltwater fish, and first tournament catches. I wish I had a picture of the first bass I caught on artificials.
  15. I think Cliff Pirch is saving my team for this event. Not a bad dark horse pick
  16. Basically what @Catt said. I fish with the same things, mostly. Jigs, trick worms, squarebills, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, lipless crankbaits, topwaters, and texas rigs. I narrow my plastics down to Rage Craws and trick worms, pretty much for everything. I fish one type of squarebill, the KVD 1.5. I only use Rage Chunks on my jigs. I only throw the Strike King Red Eye Shad for a lipless. I guess I'm a pretty simple guy with fishing lures. I've had tremendous success on some lures or baits and decided to focus on them. And no, I have no affiliation with Strike King, just like 'em.
  17. @buzzed bait you did pretty well. This is way too close....Three of my guys are down there, down there. I really need some of your guys to drop and mine to do well tomorrow
  18. I set the hook all the freaking time! Especially jig fishing. I'd rather get hung up and lose a jig than lose a pig.
  19. Looking for some new wheels after my accident this last weekend, and my family mechanic is giving me a good deal on a 2008 Subaru Impreza. He told me since I liked driving stick shift I would have a lot of fun with it. I took it out for a test drive today expecting it to run like your usual sedan and was seriously impressed by the performance. I think I was sold on it by just turning it on, the thing sounds amazing. It drives a lot more like a sports car than what I'm used to. Makes my old Corolla feel like a child's toy haha. I know 2008 was the year Subaru revamped it a little bit. Seems like a pretty good car and, as I understand, Subaru's have good lasting value. It's an ideal car for me in that it's all wheel drive and feels sporty, but isn't enough of a performance car to send insurance through the roof. He's giving it to me for $5000 out the door, which includes all the dealer fees and taxes and whatnot. He's a legit guy, my family has purchased all our vehicles from him and he does all the work on them so he wouldn't sell me a piece of junk. It has a little bit of wear and tear on the interior but is in fairly good condition. Just over 100,000 miles. If any of you guys have experience with this car/model, feel free to chime in if there's anything I should know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Got my first car about 4 months ago; '04 Corolla in great condition. Nothing special but it was a stick and a lot of fun to drive. Paid cash for it as well. Looks like after this weekend I'll probably be in the market for something else....somebody t boned me after forgetting to look both ways before pulling across the road. Never saw them until their hood was at my window. They hit right at my driver's side axle, drove me into a curb where I slid for about twenty feet till I came to a stop. A few inches back and I probably wouldn't be here to tell the story. As it was, no one was seriously injured and cars are always replaceable. Hopefully their insurance should cover a new vehicle for me.
  21. My family has had crappy Lenovos and HP's (meaning cheap basic versions) all my life and I'm so fed up with them. I'm getting a laptop this weekend for online college classes and my money is going to Apple. Probably going to end up with the Macbook Air.
  22. I have the older MG and it's a fantastic reel. Not a fan of Lew's handles as much, but I have 0 complaints with it. Been a beast.
  23. I actually really like the smaller ones on a dropshot or the back of a tiny spinnerbait. I've caught quite a few spawning bass with them on a dropshot. The ones I'm referring to are the smaller minnow sizes.
  24. This next one should be pretty fun because there's so few people in the buckets. Which means that I'm in my element here *insert evil laugh*
  25. Nothing but props for Jason Christie on a well-earned victory. I wanted to see Jordan Lee take it but it wasn't his day. Only one more regular event left this season . Can you believe it?
