  1. Alright, I'll take your word for it and stick to SpiderWire.
  2. Welcome! Out of any lakes you could live by this season, that one just may be the best. Why? The bassmaster classic will be held there in the spring.
  3. Is there really that much of a difference between different brands of lines?
  4. I've heard raves about them, but never tried them. I bet they would work really well on pressured ponds....might have to give 'em a try.
  5. Nice fish. I enjoy sometimes a break from catching bass (or getting skunked) with another species.
  6. Nice fish, man. I like that combo.
  7. You caught the fish. It was a solid chunk. End of matter.
  8. I heard a story once where a guy was taking his wife out fishing. He didn't have a license, but she did. He wasn't planning on fishing, but after a little while, his wife was struggling with casting, so he picked up the rod to show her how to cast. Of course, that was the time the warden decided to show up, and he got fined bigtime.
  9. Thanks for letting us know.
  10. Yeah, I agree. I like G-Man.
  11. Yeah. I think he had to represent his sponsors. Imagine Livingston's rage if he had won it exclusively on the Rapala .
  12. This is my first season winter fishing, and I haven't had a lot of success. I've caught one so far on a finesse jig.
  13. Is that a junkyard you're fishing from?
  14. Weights are much easier, just stick 'er on the scale and there you go. With a measurement, you have to typically lay the fish out, which is potentially endangering the fish. Unless, that is, you have a scale with a tape measure, in which case you could just weigh her anyway.
  15. I agree with ya'lls sentiments. Doing the right thing always pays off. Point in case: I have a cemetery pond right by my house that I didn't fish for about two years because there was a no fishing policy. I finally gave in and talked to the manager, who gave me permission. I now fish there almost every day (in season).
  16. I totally agree with Jakob1010. Polarized glasses changed my game.
  17. Oh, I'm definitely planning on getting a license. I just thought this would make a good thread.
  18. Well, Randy Howell won the Bassmaster Classic on a Livingston crankbait, so nobody's arguing. I like the baitball crankbaits too. Lure companies have to produce innovative lures, or else nobody will buy their stuff, and that's what these guys are doing.
  19. I'm not old enough yet to require my possession of a fishing license, but just curious: have any of you gotten caught fishing w/out a license?
  20. I wrote an article on here, "How to fish a spot from the bank," that you might find helpful. All my little tips and tricks for bank fishing. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/how-to-bank-fish.html
  21. Right now there's some sick deals going on. I would do this: Get two Lew's Speed Spools. Right now (offer ends tomorrow), you can get it for 50 bucks. Gander Mountain has it on sale for 100. They have a deal running where you can get 20 dollars off of a hundred dollars spent. Then you can mail in the included rebate and get it for 58 dollars (w/ tax). Shipping is free too over the holidays. Cabela's has the Abu Garcia Veritas (100 dollar rod) on sale for 50. Get two of them for your Lews. You'd be getting two combos that are worth 460 dollars for 200.
  22. Wow. That's a sweet deal. That helped me decide on which caster I wanted. Ordered it today! Thanks.
  23. Okay, so right now Gander Mountain has the Speed Spool on sale for 99.99. They have a deal running (ending tomorrow) where if you spend 100, you get 20 off. So the reel is 80 bucks. Then, the mail-in rebate makes it 50. I just ordered it today. Note: the spend 100, get 20 off doesn't apply to the reel because it's one cent under a hundred dollars, so I added some hooks to the cart to bump it over the 100 dollar mark.
