  1. Dude...those baits look sick. You should consider a side job .
  2. Read this article: http://www.bassmaster.com/news/best-crankbaits-life-are-free and tell me if you still think logo-imprinted lures won't work.
  3. You have to exchange fouled hooks for a better hookup.
  4. The only fish I've caught since cold fronts moved through have been on a jig. Try it! Interesting, I actually have not "finessed" it, but worked it fast enough to get a reaction strike. The fish I've caught have not been deep, hanging out in cover right by the shore.
  5. That doesn't look red to me....
  6. Can't go wrong with a Shakespeare Ugly Stik combo. At Walmart they run about 40 bucks and they're indestructible.
  7. C&G, I thought my year was over, too, but actually was able to catch some nice ones today.
  8. So today I was fishing my favorite pond. I caught a decent fish and held it up to show my brother, who was fishing across the pond from me. This random dude who was fishing immediately picks up his tackle box, walks over to me, makes some small talk, sets down his tackle box, and promptly started fishing. I moved away from him pretty quickly. Who wants to fish with someone who tries to horn into your spot? You ever run into this type?
  9. Love it! I'm new to casters but took that thing out and boy was it smooth. I had very little difficulty with backlashes and was able to zing a 1/2 oz. jig pretty far. It handled the two 2-pounders I caught very nicely.
  10. 2014 was an amazing year. Spring: Went to Bass Pro and got my first combo: A $30.00 Shakespeare synergy (spincast). Started nightcrawler fishing and enjoying some productivity. For every bass I caught, I caught about 3 sunfish. One day, I ran out of worms and tied on a Super Spot. Caught my first fish on fake bait (and a 2 1/2 pounder later). I was hooked! Started fishing fake bait more often, but didn't fish it exclusively until the summer Summer: Was given a spinning combo and 3 boxes of finesse worms. Started fishing ponds around my house. I fished almost every day, honing techniques and catching fish on new lures. I mastered the finesse worm . Caught my PB on a private lake. Fall: Caught my first buzzbait and jig fish. Winter: Got a baitcast combo, (today) caught two nice fish on it. I went from spincast to baitcast in less than a year......what a transition! 2014 was an amazing, amazing year. Many bass caught, a lot of good memories, and hopefully a lifetime more await!
  11. I was able to hold myself back to a new reel and a package of hooks. I got the Tournament MG Speed Spool for 50 bucks. Love it.
  12. Nice! Just caught my first on a jig too. Congrats.
  13. sweet fish, sweet lure!
  14. I actually like using the small curly tails off of finesse worms for finesse trailers. I clip off two and stick them on. It looks awesome in the water and gives the bass a break from craws.
  15. Here's the thing. A new world record would be worth a ton of money. For one, B.A.S.S. would probably give the catcher a large monetary prize, if he happened to be a member. For two, every company would want the dude to say that he caught that bass on their baits. So when it really comes out that he caught it on Stren 12 lb. mono and a Mann's Jelly Worm and an Abu Garcia rod/reel, he would probably get a lifetime supply of stuff from those companies.
  16. Update: I got my combo. I bought the Lews Speed Spool for $50.00 earlier in the week, should be getting here tomorrow. I got the Abu Garcia Vengeance a couple months ago for $30.00. I wasn't planning on getting a good como, which is why I got the cheaper rod. If I had known some of the Black Friday deals I found were going to be running, I would have bought a nicer rod. So, I ended up getting a $180.00 combo for 80 bucks. I'm content.
  17. Lovin' North Carolina!
  18. The local tilapia harvesters in that lake claim they have netted 24 pounders. That may not be true but there's some monsters roaming those waters.
  19. Yes. I saw that and can't wait to see what comes out of there. I've heard lake Barrarac has some 20+ pounders in it too.
  20. Well, in my mind it could be several things. -It might be wind -It might be shallower on one side -One of the sides may have some really good cover. -One of the sides might be where bass school, and the other where the bass lay in wait. You never know.
  21. Nice to hear that the moderators get helped, too. I thought ya'll had done it all.
  22. Main differences: Appearance: Smallmouth are a brownish color, and Largemouth are a green/grey. Location (sometimes intermingled but often separate) Smallmouth like colder water, Largemouth tend to like warmer. Fight: Smallmouth fight harder Size: Largemouth can get twice as big as smallmouth. A 5 pound smallmouth is considered a trophy.
