  1. I run into guys from time to time who won't fish there anymore because of the weeds. Still a spot where you can catch some big fish though. Caught my biggest pickerel to date in there.
  2. This one is starting to get a belly like me
  3. ten2one, what are some of the ponds you fish in that area? have you ever fished the impoundments in manahawkin? I head down there from time to time because I have family out there and would love to find a few decent spots.
  4. That is holiday lake. My Grandma lives right off the ocean acres country club. I have have fished there since I was a kid when I would visit.I am about to head down there next week and hope to do some bass fishing. I gotta find some other spots though because you are limited at that lake. And this time of year you will have people swimming there ect..so you could be to limited to do much. I think they are pretty strict on boats there. I spoke to a guy who lives there early in the spring who said he goes on there with a little boat and has his best luck on the other side of the bridge. Figures because a boat is the only way you could access it without having the golfers start aiming their drives at you.lol
  5. Nice bass! What body of water is that?
  6. I have a pair of hobie pre cabo that are about 10 years old. They are now called cabo I believe. They have copper lens and they are decent fishing glasses
  7. My brother caught the biggest of the day
  8. I mean no snag would be less stressful. I guess it depends on where and how deep. Yeah you're right, it happens. Thanks bro I will. Just a bit bummed and felt like getting it off my chest.
  9. She was on her bed and snagged her a little in front of her spiny dorsal fin. I am no expert on bass anatomy but I wondered afterwards if I damaged any nerves or anything like that? The hook was in there all the way. She picked up my lure ( 1/16 bitsy bug ) and must have spit it out before I went to set the hook because when I pulled back I get her where I said. When I saw the snag I just tried to get her in gently but quickly to remove the hook and get her back in the water. The hook came out quickly and I put her back in and she bolted. I did not see her go right back to her bed and was bummed that I might have hurt the thing or messed up its spawn. A little later as I passed that spot I looked and there was a bass that looked like her and was back on the bed and was chasing off other fish ect..like they do. Obviously that was the last thing I wanted to do. They have enough stress on their beds and I am sure I caused a lot more with my snag. All I can do is hope she is ok but I feel bad about it. It put a damper on the rest of my day of fishing.
  10. I love catching pickerel and that is a pretty epic 40min of fishing!
  11. Congrats on the PB! That thing is a donkey!
  12. It's a treat when you can sit and watch bass activity this time of year. A spot I go to I get to sit and watch them the whole time I fish and they do the same thing If you stand near them. They swim away and then they will come back after a bit and if you are still there they keep going. But when you leave and come back they are just chilling there hanging out. And I also noticed the same thing as far as them seeing other fish/turtles ect..from a good distance away and getting after them. My lures as well all though the getting after part not so much lol
  13. At least you got one. I was out all weekend without a single bite. But after this winter, getting skunked never felt so good. I got to shake off some rust and pay some dues.
  14. can't believe he landed that big fish on that light tackle like that. I enjoyed how he got into the psychological side of f fishing and how he was just trying to get his confidence back by targeting something he felt would be easier to catch. He also said if it was easy it wouldn't be fun. For me it is a good reminder and perspective for the times things are not happening on the water.
  15. I feel your pain. Saturday I hiked about a 1/2 mile or so in 6-10" of snow to a local pond and there was still snow on top of all the ice. And like you the temps are now dropping again with some snow expected Friday.
  16. That particular pond is loaded with yellow perch. Late fall/early winter and then late winter/early spring when there is ice, that is what is biting and I just catch those. Wish I could say I have luck with bass under those conditions but I have not. But this year I have some new tricks up my sleeve and maybe this will be the year. Just waiting for some of the ice to finally begin to melt :-l
