  1. I use 26 gauge coated copper wire (black coat). I break it once and a while when tying, but thats when I am in a hurry and pull too hard. I have tried 22 gauge and 20 gauge and those are a bit easier to work with, but I prefer the tightness of the 26 gauge tie. Its much more compact. I have never had the 26 gauge wire break when fishing.
  2. So for pop r or whopper plopper I use the mojo bass jerk bait rod. It works great! So frogs and sometimes buzzbaits I'll use a 7 foot 6 heavy rod with braid.
  3. I used to have that problem with the drop shot. But I figured out if you take your tag end after tying the hook and run it back through the eye of the hook before tying the sinker it helps a lot. It keeps that hook upright and perpendicular and seems less likely to wrap up and tangle with the line running to your hook.
  4. It's a 150 opti. Would have loved to gotten the 18 with 200 but I didn't want to pay the extra 9 grand. This is the longest weekend ever. I may even have to go to the bank and fish.
  5. I have been looking at upgrading from my 2014 Tracker 170 for a while and finally settled on the Triton 189 TRX. They had one up at the boat show in Raleigh last weekend and was sold. I had looked at other models in the price range (disappointed as many of you all know Nitro won't work with you). I settled on the triton because of quality and it helps the dealer is 20 minutes from my house if I have any issues. With my trade in I also upgraded to a 6 in hydraulic jack plate with wheel from, 10 foot power pole, had them install the 7 in lowrance on the bow and move my Garmin 93 off the tracker to the triton's dash. I was hoping to pick it up today, but that won't happen until Monday. I'm busting to do some fishing on it, and get above 32 mph down the lake. Apologize for the grammatical errors. Typing from a phone is much more difficult for me.
  6. Thanks! I am going to go with braid
  7. New here, and new to fishing actively for bass since I just got my first boat this summer. I just purchased a 7'6" MH F rod. The plan is to use it to pitch and flip, jigs, carolina rigs, and maybe some frogs (I need to try them out). What line would be recommend that could cover all of those. I only have one reel for this rod. I was thinking 20lb fluorocarbon, or maybe braid then use a fluorocarbon leader if I am carolina rigging or using a jig in open water. Thanks.
