  1. Hey guys, I was just hoping I could get some opinions on what the best set up for a flicker shad is? I would prefer to go spinning setup but what lb test? They are so light weight that I could see casting being a problem especially on a baitcaster. Thoughts?
  2. Hey all!! I looked once again in the forums and didnt see much on a question I had and was wondering if I could just get a few tips. Here in the midwest, fall fishing has started so naturally Im throwing crankbaits and swimbaits (with a few other things) but mostly focusing on the cranks and swimmys. Here is the question... while using hard swim baits, Ill see fish following the swim bait for a good 4 feet in the water. When I feel the bass is getting to close to shore (i dont want him to see me or get spooked) I STOP SWIMMING the swim bait. EVERYTIME I have done this, as soon as I pause the lure, the bass takes off like a bat out of hell in the opposite direction and wont even hit the lure. Should I just continue swimming the swimbait all the way to shore? Should I not pause the swimming motion? Thanks for the help/tips
  3. just a quick update. Tried a few pumpkin by yum and gamagatsu skip gap and the skip gap works AMAZING!!! I caught 3 bass today using the skip gap and a bubble gum trick worm. Thanks guys for all your help and input!!

  5. Hey cadman!! Im originally from jefferson park and albany park. Now I live out in Arlington Heights but Im very familiar with chicago and the surrounding area. I love to fish northern-ish illinois. How about yourself?
  6. Umair, also try axehead lake on toughy near park ridge, beck lake near niles illinois, Belleu lake in park ridge and oakton community college pond. All of these are relatively close to one another. These lakes and ponds have really produced for me this year.
  7. Thanks gents!! cheers and tight lines!!
  8. P.s. Screw type it is.... Besides seiberts any "good generic" kind i could pick up at dicks sporting goods, cabelas, or bass pro?
  9. Awesome guys thanks for the advice. You think i could grind the keeper down or make it less sharp?
  10. Hey guys I searched the forums and I couldnt find a post relating to a problem im having. Right now Im using an original zoom trick worm with a strike king pro grade shaky head with a "big" keeper. Im attempting to texas rig the worm. The problem im having is when I get the head (tip) of the trick worm near the keeper and I try to bunch/push the worm toward the jig head, it rips the worm once I just get over the keeper. Then when I try to get the worm off the keeper when done using the worm, it ripps the worm even more.... to the point the worm is no longer salvageable. Any tips? Am I doing something wrong?
  11. Just joined the forums here and I live near the city of Chicago. Travel alot to the northen burbs (mt prospect, elk grove, palatine, arlington heights) to fish. If anyone wants to meet up and fish PM me!!
  12. hey man im new to the forums as well from illinois. Im near palatine illinois. Welcome!!
  13. Hey bud, Im a bank fisherman so I would say I catch most of my bass any where from 20 feet to 10 feet off shore. I dont get to many opportunities to fish deep. Also here in Chicago, there are not to many lakes to fish (besides lake Michigan) and if there is, they are relatively small/shallow IMO.
  14. Hey guys, Im from Chicago illinois and only been fishing for about 2 years now. Im 28, recently married, and work retail. This past summer was my irst summer really getting back into fishing. I actually learned how to use a baitcaster so Im relatively new. Im on here to learn and be involved in a community of fisherman. I usually fish the surrounding suburbs of chicago. Im a bank fisherman seems to the fact I dont own a boat. I usually fish axehead lake, beck lake, busse lake, Des Plains river, Oakton pond, Chicago river, Donut lake, and belleu lake. These are a few of my favorites. Looking forward to meeting up with new people to fish, learn, and be involved in all aspects of the fishing community. cheers, and tight lines!!
