  1. +1 to the Shimano IX2000, no anti-reverse or whatever it's called but for $15 can't beat em.
  2. Got a huge haul from my local Dick's with a bit of everything. Tried to tie in everything you guys recommended. Apart from the Zoom Finesse worms, everything was an EXTRA 50% off clearance prices. Super cheap! Came out to $42 for all. Most things cost me 1.25 to 1.75 Quite a haul since I don't have a job and the high school tournament is coming up KVD Sexy Frog Green Pumpkin/Pearl Bottom - $3! KVD Sexy Frog Watermelon Green - $3! I know Cotton Cordell isn't the greatest but they didn't have any lipless besides that and for a buck why not. Some stuff I just got to try for fun and challenge myself. For the KVD Frogs, my heaviest setup at the moment is my Medium Heavy baitcaster with 12lb trilene. Do you think that I'll be okay with them on there. They were only $3 after all. We have some lighter weed cover but no 2ft mats of hydrilla or anything crazy. Biggest bass realistically are gonna be around 3lbs. Should I give it a go? I'm only in high school and don't want to invest in a setup just for froggin' at the moment and I want to keep braid off it because for now it's my go-to setup for my big spinners, big topwater, all the heavy stuff that's not friends with braid Thanks guys!
  3. I've got a couple hundred dollars of christmas money to upgrade my tackle selection. I'm good on rods and reels but am looking for 2 things mostly. 1. a fishing backpack that i wont have to carry by hand, and will hold multiple boxes 2. a bunch of lures, cranks, plastics, spinners, you name it. A "big" bass in my area is 3-4+ lbs so no massive swimbaits or 14 inch worms, but what are some good baits you guys think I should buy. I believe in quality over quantity but no $23 squarebills please Thanks for any recommendations. Again, basically any bait you really like works.
  4. Depends where I'm fishing completely. Lake behind my high school is awful and I'm lucky to catch one if I go from 3:00 to 5:00. Other neighborhood lakes with little to no fishing pressure if I don't catch 15 in 2 hours I'm disappointed. Also depends what I'm using. I've been killing them on white flukes recently and I'm just not doing as well on anything else.
  5. So I got Amazon to upgrade my shipping for free so I can get it by Sunday night. As for the quality of the rod as I was saying when they aren't defective I love them but I tend to see a lot of defective ones. I'd recommend it if you don't mind having to return one (rather likely occurence) but otherwise it might take a bit to get a good model.
  6. So long story short I ordered a Skeet Reese Finesse Tube Jig Rod. I've found that a high percentage of the rods have flaws in them and need to be returned but those that are unflawed are absolutely perfect for my style fishing. Well, I happened to get unlucky when purchasing my second Finesse Tube Jig Rod. One of the guides halfway up the rod was enameled over. Basically what this means is the "glaze" (enamel) that they put over each guide made a connection with the other side of the guide. A lot of people have made this complaint on the reviews and I was hoping I got lucky enough to get a decent rod. Anyways, the enamel bonded to itself completely covering my guide. I couldn't put mono through it, nothing. Completely covered. I used a pocket knife to very carefully poke a hole in the enameling and made a hole big enough to put my mono through. I was rigging up the rod on-site and was my only rod at the time, so I had to deal. Didn't catch any and my line didn't get cut or anything. Is it possible for me to fix it by just chipping off pieces of enamel or will that give the ceramic insert jagged edges. Q-Tip test resulted in a catch on enamel, not ceramic. Can I fix it or should I return it? I've got a fishing event on Wednesday, so should I explain that the rod sent was faulty and I need to get a new one by Wednesday? Got it off Amazon so not sure if they'd fork over expedited shipping to get it by Wednesday. I'm guessing I'll have to mail the "broken" one back? Also, forgot to mention I don't want to have to replace the guide. If I bought it brand new for nearly 100$ I shouldn't need to be repairing it from day 1.
