  1. I have a number of thoughts in my head about why you rarely here people talking about white jigs. It could be that most people associate jigs as a crawfish imitator or that it just doesn't cross their minds at that moment. Who really knows? But white jigs have seen some strong runs in our neck of the woods. We are slammed packed with shad so its not a surprise that we have guys that will flip a white jig all year. Justin Mott
  2. Depending on the lakes and time of year, I like to wake my spinnerbaits, slow roll them on bottom, and slow rollw them through and close to cover. I lean on a spinnerbait throughout most of the year so I've leaned how to use the bait for my neck of the woods. For example, in lakes with bank grass and warm weather (not hot) I like to keep the blade high in the water column. Also on low light days on clear water. Pretty much any other time whether it is colored water, sunny days, misc. weather condition, I feel like anyone can catch them using a slow roll technique around cover. How well has the blade been working in your area?
  3. I think we all will get skunked for one reason or another. Sometimes its the weather, the season, timing, or the wife bringing you off the water. If it just happens once in a blue moon, I'm not concerned about it. When I first started, I got skunked way too many times to count. But after 15 years of doing this, I've gotten fairly grounded in my approach and have gotten in the habit of looking at the mistakes I might make in a days time. Maybe my casting was off and I need to practice a specific cast. Maybe I got caught up with an area or presentation and didn't cover enough water or experiment enough. Or maybe I started fishing midday in the summer and I was asking to get beat up on. It could be anything that affects your style or focus, in my opinion. Like most of us that have been fishing for awhile, we don't get skunked enough to really notice so we are making our adjustments or putting alot of thoughts into those days where we just catch a few solid tournament fish or even worse only small bass.
