  1. Is your Gen3 the same MFD you registered with IG? Are you at the lake in question or in your driveway? Have you got your Chart Source set to Lowrance?
  2. Great units but there are problems when you buy NON-supported equipment. Besides what Wayne P. stated, none of the newer transducers will work on the Gen1 (HDI, TotalScan, 3D module, etc...etc..). I would suggest getting the Gen1 and use as a stand-alone GPS and this will allow you to maybe get a larger screen, current family, sonar unit like the Hook or Elite-TI. Don't let the touch screen scare you. I have never had to wipe my hands before the screen would work, but, it's nice to keep a soft cloth and eyeglasses cleaner close by. Of course, if you plan on having a unit at the bow and the console, networked to share info, you will need to step up a little.
  3. Pretty easy work.....red & yellow wires to fused positive...black wire to negative. Transducer mounted to transom so it runs in clean water at speed. You can do this, just follow directions in manual and go slow..
  4. What make and model and length of boat?
  5. You can not adjust PING on your unit. Why do you think you need to adjust your PING speed? I don't think you can adjust the refresh rate either. Here's something to try tho...when you set up the machine make sure to check YES at Are You an Advanced User. This will open up more options for you in the setup menus. You can reset the machine via the main menu system.
  6. Ping Speed has nothing to do with the refresh rate. The refresh rate (also referred to as re-draw rate) refers only to the GPS. Ping Speed refers to the rate of pulses put out by the transducer. Generally speaking the faster the ping speed the better the clarity. Your unit is a DownScan Imaging unit and will NOT have a ping speed setting. You will have ping speed settings with 2D sonar, CHIRP or standard. If you get an HDI (hybrid dual imaging) unit, you will enjoy both the DownImaging and 2D sonar. With an HDI you will better understand what you are seeing on BOTH views.
  7. TotalScan is very good. The clarity will change with water turbidity. It is very sensitive but naturally the 2D isn't as good as my TM-185-HW. TS is designed to 'do it all' with a single transducer, and it does that well. The structure and downscan views are at least as good as LSS-HD.
  8. You are right...these are from a 9" Gen3. There is no issue with the screen shots at all. I have the range exactly where I need it. Not everybody is a Bass fisherman! And to answer Bassinyea...TM-185 and LSS-HD for these screen shots. I have since switched to a SS3D for the 9 and a TotalScan for the 7 in the back.
  9. There is no problem IF you have both XDCR's connected to the Gen3.
  10. Can you please give me the product number from the box? It will start with 000- .
  11. You may be scanning further on 455 but to what sacrafice? I prefer 800 kHz just because the picture is cleaner and targets more visible. Besides, why the need to see more than about 125' to each side when your casting? When you are in your driveway, does the SS have the same results? This seems more of an 'interference' problem to me. Pinched xdcr cable, bad cable, too close to main power cable, maybe even a bad xdcr. You could also try shutting everything down in the middle of the lake then turn on ONLY sonar and view SS to see what it looks like. If no lines at this point, start turning ON each piece of equipment and checking the screen one at a time. Lastly, turn ON the TM then the OB. If the problem is still there, try to borrow a transducer to check against.
  12. I put a small amount of lub around the OUTSIDE of the male fitting.
  13. The Elite TI series is a repackaged/reconfigured HDS Gen2 Touch. Designed as a Stand-alone feature packed, value priced unit. The HDS Gen3 is still your latest technology and fully networkable. You can order the HDS Gen3 without a xdcr and order the TotalScan xdcr to have it all in one xdcr. You can not share sonar data with the TI units. So if you had 2 TI units for sonar you would need 2 transducers.
  14. Aging memory.
  15. PWR > Settings > System > Advanced > Features > AUTO HIDE MENU (turn it ON)
  16. If you have the latest firmware updates, you can share a single chart card across the entire network.
  17. IF you have both sonar units on at the same time on same freq, you will get crosstalk and screen noise. If the TM xdcr is on 200 kHz you can use the 83 kHz on the console unit and all will be fine. The 7 and the 12 will share ALL chart data if both are running latest firmware updates. You can also share an external GPS module if you are connected to the NMEA backbone. If it were me I woul go ahead and network all 3 together via Ethernet and NMEA and just switch the TM unit to LOCAL rather than GLOBAL. But the way you want to do this will work just fine.
  18. Wayne P. How come we can't see the same fish from ID in the DI or SI? Do you have a shot with FishID on split with FishID off to compare?
  19. If you are looking right at your sonar, the leading edge (right edge) of the screen is NOW, and everything LEFT of that point is 'history'. Unless you are not moving. So, when you see a fish in 'the middle' of your screen, it is not actually under or around your immediate location 'at that time'.
  20. I'm not sure what you are saying, but, 'real-time' is ONLY as it starts to appear on the screen. All other is History. The only times I slow down the chart speed is when I am fishing dead-stopped. Even when I am only trolling at .75 mph I have the chart speed on Normal. When dead-stopped (in a slip) the bottom never changes because you are not moving. Technically, slowing down the screen speed changes the interpretation of what the firmware draws on the screen.
  21. Check the 'Item Location'.
  22. So the math is actually: storage(AH) / load(amps) or 70 AH battery with 5amp continuous draw = 14 hours of use.
  23. I would buy the most feature packed unit I could afford that takes care of whatever I might want/need to do with it in the future. ie: "I might want to connect my MotorGuide to the sonar/map unit..." That is something you need to address now.
  24. HST-WSBL is the transom mount you will need.
