  1. Absolutely. It's a clear, high-pressured lake erie harbor, so at the time I didn't have the confidence, but she showed me! A couple weeks later was out with my dad, and kicked his butt on her pink worm. I showed her the picture of the 4lber I caught on it, and she yelled at me not to use her worms! EDIT: Found it!
  2. I know it's not actually a craw, but a small tube works wonders on DS.
  3. Rob: Okay, here is 15 bags of soft plastics, which one do you want to--- Her: Pink one. Rob: I'm not sure i wou--- Her: PINK! First day using a bait caster/pitching. Proceeds to catch a 4lb lake erie largemouth on a pink senko on her 4th pitch ever. Best part... she man-handled it, and boat flipped it before I could get to the net. Second best part... A perch charter with 12+ people is passing by 20 feet away cheering her on and taking pictures while she posed for them like a big shot!
  4. Seems that the ball on the cheaper one is 1'' not 1.5'' like the other. Not sure what the implications are.
  5. If its a cheap, easily replaceable item, you can cut the hook, then back it through, just like you would if you hooked yourself.
  6. for my MG xi5 we use two of these: https://www.amazon.com/Keeper-RT4-5912-Flashlight-Retractor-Accessory/dp/B00A36SL4S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1501762253&sr=8-1&keywords=diver+flashlight+retractor They are made for diver's flashlights, so they are pretty heavy duty.
  7. Well... what are you waiting for!?
  8. So in this case if money is no issue, I LOVE the abu villain 2.0 line. Incredible rods.
  9. Pitching/skipping under docks then bringing them out. I like to actually treat it as a normal jig, let it hit bottom, hop it once or twice, then swim it out. Dual presentation.
  10. For lure choice, I would personally preface it with, "The best lure/color is the one you like/want to throw, but if the bite is tough, try______________"
  11. Don't forget lead safety, wash hands after handling lures/weights, don't put in mouth, etc.
  12. I don't know anything about the lake, but from what you described, I would do two things: 1. Keep it simple, don't overthink it. Use baits/techniques you like and are comfortable with. 2. Dock fishing can be challenging behind a good angler. Try not to match him too closely in presentation/bait unless he is slaying them and you're not. Pay attention to the areas he isn't pitching to, and leaving open for you. When in doubt, when neither of you are catching any,or he is and you're not, DOWNSIZE.
  13. Falling likely indicates, injury. Injury likely indicates opportunity. Just a thought. also, interestingly, drum on lake erie either slam it while its on the bottom resting, or (most of the time) on the lift, opposite of what we are discussing. You would almost think that a lift, or movement would make them want to react before the prey gets away. Anecdotes and general theories is all I got! Ugh, bass will be bass. Who knows what/why/how they do what they do.
  14. I own two villain 2.0 spinning rods, absolutely love them. They have treated me well the last two years on Erie. Crazy sensitive, very light. I also own that Heavy rod you are looking at. It is a monster. Very sensitive, but like rich said, its pretty much for very heavy cover only. Abu's usually run a tad stiffer than the average rod company, and it really shows in this rod. For punching, heavy cover flipping, and heavy duty frogging, it is amazing. For an every day jig rod, I like something a little softer when accuracy matters a bit more.
  15. For the medium range, a ton of companies make a nice 7'' or 8'' worms, can't go wrong. I personally use the havoc juice worm for that. For the 10'' I like good ol' power worms. I know a lot of people are fans of the zoom ol'monster as well. For bigger than that, you'll have to ask them southern guys. EDIT: I only answered this partially. I like to rig it texas or punch, usually 3/8 all the way up 1+ oz depending on the cover. Pitch to wood, grass, etc shallow. Drag it on ledges in deep water as well. Very versatile. Basically anywhere you'd throw a jig. I like a black/blue, green pumpkin, junebug, and red colored worm mostly, but plenty of other colors work im sure. Big worms are not much different than any other bottom baits like jigs, just a different look/option.
  16. For punching, skirts provide two distinct purposes for me: 1. Larger profile for when I am targeting bigger fish. 2. Larger surface area to provide a slower fall once under the mat, and also that surface area allows the bait to better rest on top of any weeds below the surface, that your bait would otherwise just penetrate and get buried in once through the mat.
  17. Definitely not preferred, but use what ya got! you'll be fine!
  18. Caught my first topwater catfish. Was about 5lbs on a frog. Absolute explosion.
  19. Very nice, how much it cost ya?
  20. Great write-up man, that is great, congrats. You have a long college career ahead of you, lets see what you're made of!
  21. So who's PB is it!? Family PB!
  22. I wanted to use a silly alias that included my first name for internet relating things. Couldn't think of anything too clever, so I went with something corny.
  23. The best way is for those with content to share and those with experience or general opinions can constructively critique. The key to most editing is simple and focused with just a little taste of uniqueness. My advice to anyone making videos, never become complacent, never stop trying to improve what you can output. I am eager to see some videos!
