  1. I don't know, but a gamakatsu 3/0 frog hook is exactly the same size as an owner 4/0. Just has a different gap.
  2. Heddon Zara Spooks. Monster mass lure with the worst hooks imaginable. Also, they tend to slam rebel draws, so I always slap some st-41's on those bad boys.
  3. I usually fish mine right out of the package, and then once they go dull up grade to owner 36's or 41's.
  4. Get an eze-lap pen sharpener. You can take it anywhere. Just run the left, right, and outside of the point down the hook groove once each and it should be sticky sharp.
  5. I like those strike king rage blades personally
  6. I've heard that about mepps, but I've never caught one that way. I caught a small flathead on a Senko once and I've snagged a channel cat or two with a trap.
  7. You have to go with a 10lb braid mainline. You'll save yourself so many line mgmt headaches. It casts farther easier, and line twist doesn't affect braid. You can double uni to a 4-8 lb Invizx leader no problem.
  8. Yeah, that's something I won't ever forget. I got it from Oppenheimer when he successfully created the bomb, but it does sound like something Kali would say.
  9. yeah it is! And he's back in there to give some other unwary angler a run for their money. Thanks, man!
  10. I caught this 11.46 lb blue cat in a farm pond today with a double Jackall Crosstail Shad rig using 10 lb power pro main line with 8 lb invizx leaders and gamakatsu 1/0 g lock hooks on a Daiwa Lexa 721MLFS rod and a Daiwa Lexa 2500 reel. It was EPIC. It took a solid five minutes to land it. I'm so glad I added that bearing to the drag! Had to share.
  11. I think most people have bass and white python because those are the colors dicks carries. I almost bought the cicada one from bps, and I think I'll be going back for it because I'm starting to hear a lot more of them out lately...
  12. I've been chatting with a guy on here about this and he has the 721mhrb while I have the 711mhrb and it sounds like they are pretty much identical in the way they fish, which begs the question as to why they would make two identical rods that have a one inch difference in length.
  13. Jackall crosstail shad in baby bass with some size 2 owner wacky hooks (the green ones) is an awesome dropshot setup. As for worm weights, I really can't recommend strike king tungsten weights enough.
  14. I don't ever tie a lure to a swivel. I attach everything with a snap and my pop max walk, pops, and wakes just fine with it.
  15. those owners are a great choice, too, but with the weight forward they're more for swimming than dead sticking because of the weight forward design. Just depends on how you plan on fishing them.
  16. while it is possible to land fish on a rod that's not the best and have fun doing it, you'll land more fish and have more fun if you at least invest in an appropriate rod. There is no rod that does everything well, so if you want a rod that's right for jigs and t rigs, don't buy one made for cranks. You know what you need. You already bought it. Ugly sticks and zebcos from Wally world are great if you're just starting out, but if you're to the point where you're cruising this forum and buying Abu rods, you know ugly sticks and zebcos are crap as well as you know a 7' mh fast is for jigs. Don't waste your time seeking validation on here when you could be finding out for yourself whether you made the right choice or not. Tight lines!
  17. I'd run a chartreuse blue back squarebill along the shore first. Then try punching any mats that formed with a black beaver.
  18. Zara Spook, hula popper
  19. gamakatsu weighted superline ewg 3/0 1/8th oz hooks
  20. Yeah, I'm thinking a jackall crosstail shad would slay. Man, those things do, anyway.
  21. I I had to order mine from bps as they didn't have them in store. I haven't seen them anywhere else aside from TW, but ill only buy something there if I need $50 worth.
  22. I've only used this once and my experience is the same as I'm sure most other anglers. After rigging it up I was hyped about the action (zman trd+zman shroomz), I casted in, instant fish, I casted in, instant snag. Can't wait to get ahold of those new weedless shroomz...
  23. I like mine to sink, especially if it shimmies on the way down. Think Senko or spinbait.
  24. Those concerned with durability: Get some owner light wire twistlock hooks made specifically for senkos. They'll save you a lot of hassle. They save megabass dot crawlers, too. J hooks are fine for a lot of things, but not senkos. Just my .02
  25. ribbontail for me, since the water is usually pretty murky and you have to move a lot of water for the fish to find it. I like Anacondas and cut-r worms from rage tail.
