  1. Hey thanks again guys. I'm not embarrassed to say, I've shed more tears over this, than I have over anything in a long time. Had a big wad of tissues here this morning and again tonight. Peace, Fish
  2. Thanks so much guys. I really appreciate it. And don't forget to tell your loved ones how glad you are to have them in your life. I guess its human nature to tend to take life for granted sometimes, but then when you experience something like this, it really makes you stop to consider the reality of things. Peace, Fish
  3. Some of you might have heard me say before, that I'm not into any particular religion, per say. But I KNOW their is a higher power, and because of this, I am very spiritual. Anyway, I have a very close friend who is in REALLY bad shape His name is Josh D. Josh was actually registered here for a while, but with a full-blown career, a Wife and 3 kids, he just didn't have a lot of time to spend surfing the net. It seems that way back, like 5 months ago, he got that horrible flu that many of us (myself included) got. It got a little better, then came back, then just kind of back and forth. Then, a month ago, he got severely sick, to the point he had to be hospitalized. Even so, he continued to decline, at which point, Dr's discovered that his heart was swollen. As it turns out, he had developed something called Viral Cardio Myopathy (sp ?) In this last month, his heart has stopped 3 X's, and then they had to do open heart surgery to put in a machine to pump his blood for him. At that point, all of his other organs were trying to shut down too, but since the machine has increased his blood flow, the other stuff seems to be improving. Still, Dr's are not sure that the heart machine will continue to be enough, if his heart has been too damaged already. They are even talking about the possibility of putting him on a heart transplant list. Josh is only 34 yo, but had an awesome career (chief operator of a water treatment plant), making a bunch of $, with great benefits, which was fantastic for him, as he is married with a 10, 8, and 1 yo. Josh is just one of those guys of whom anyone who knows him, likes him. Caring. Generous. And a fantastic Father, to his 3 kids. I'm going to go see him (1 hour drive) in the next few days. His wife told me to be prepared. He is a big guy... about 6'4", 280, but his wife tells me he has lost 100 lbs, since all of this began. Anyway, in a "best case" scenario, his heart will heal completely, but Dr's have said this would take a minimum of 6 months ! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So anyway, I don't care "who" you pray to... God, Allah, Buhda, etc, ... If you have a higher power that listens to you, will you please say a prayer for my good friend Josh D ? I promise, all of you would love this guy. Fish
  4. A live bait thread, and nobody mentioned crawlers ??? I LOVE fishing live bait fishing, and have done a ton of it. But shiners are WAY down on my list, far behind crawlers and crawdads. One thing though, with the spawn coming shortly, I have found artificials to be MUCH more effective for sight fishing. Then I'll switch back to live bait for finicky post spawn fish. Peace, Fish
  5. Ha ! LOL Here we go again ! Fish PS, My opinion is, if you find a ginormous bass on a bed, you absolutely, positively should NOT fish for that fish !!! Instead, you should send me a PM with directions to said lake, and GPS coordinates. I will go take a look, and determine if said fish needs a hook stuck in its mouth I'm thinking it might..... but you really need to let me check it out, first LOL
  6. Slime rockets is even new to me. I call them bass bars Peace, Fish
  7. I once had Kevin Van Dam, Jay Yellas, Mark Davis, and Zell Rowland, standing around me, looking at my trophy album, at Clear Lk I think they were impressed.... in spite of the fact that their game and mine, are two completely different things..... Peace, Fish
  8. If you Pay the $20, you will have thrown away $17 1" black rubber table legs caps (about 4 for $2 or $3) usually fit perfectly over most rod butts. Quarters fit perfectly in the bottoms of them. Test for balance, then once you get it correct, put a blob of silicone inside the cap, shove it back on, and wipe off any excess silicone which squeezes out. I balance every rod I ever own. The micro-lights usually just need the weight of the rubber cap itself. My heavier, swim bait or striper rods usally take 2-4 quarters + the cap. Easy. Cheap. Effective. Fish
  9. All of these programs can work. But it all depends on the person. The question isn't > Does this, or that program work.... But rather, "Can you make, this, or that program work" ? I'm not sure what you normal people do to stay on track. Health and fitness (diet and exercise) are easy for me to stay focused on. In fact, with my OCD, it's hard for me to focus on much else. Personally speaking, I hate cardio.... But its not so bad if I'm outdoors, stomping around in the hills, with my camera Good cardio + photography at the same time Not to mention, I'm really not interested in being "thin, with super endurance". I'm more into burst strength and muscle bulk (why fight genetics ?) I do some cardio just because I know its good for me + I believe it compliments weight lifting. As the weather gets better + daylight savings time this Sunday, I'll be doing more and more hill climbing / hiking, which is good, as I plan to cut about 10-12 lbs of fat, in the next 8 or 10 weeks... to bring me from 222@13%BF (I'm 6ft) to my June goal of 210@10% Will post some new progress photos... Peace, Fish
  10. Dogs are awesome ! I'd love to have my own pack of them. I love nearly all breeds, and their are a lot of really cool 'mutts' out there too. Right now, I kind of lean towards a Border Collie, French Bulldog, Boston Terrier..... Here's a couple shots I've taken of very cool dogs, in the last week..... Peace, Fish
  11. Well, kind of {photography and weightlifting} but the cool thing is, even when I'm on the water, I have my SLR ready and within arms reach Peace, Fish
  12. from the last couple days. Peace, Fish
  13. Yea', Rousey is really good... but I was rooting for Carmouche. Cyborg on roids ? No ! Who'd of thunk ??? LOL She is one scary a$$ Bee#### ain't she ? LOL Hey, so I wonder what's up with Gina Carano ? Fish
  14. Well first off, I have to say, at every house I have ever lived in, my bedroom seems to stay like 7-12 degrees warmer than any other room in the house, no matter what the thermo is set for ! My theory is my body heat + a big, flat screen TV + my PC.... That said, we usually leave the thermo set to 63. A few years ago the Landlord was always worried about PG and E.... and so (kind of) to prove a point, when he would leave town every weekend, I'd never turn the heater on at all. I just wore sweat pants and tops, and again my room was so much warmer. It even got warmer there, because that room was so small. One time in January, I got up in the morn, and the hall thermometer was pegged at the minimum of 48 degrees ! But again, my room was close to 60, and with sweat cloths, no problem. I can't handle cold near as well though, nowadays, since I lost all the blubber..... Peace, Fish
  15. tbone, it's not I often I thank someone for calling me ignorant LOL But ya' know what ? I did a little surfing, thinking I could then come back and hit you with some facts.... and surprise, suprise. After 3 decades of steady decline, it does now appear that the number of anglers seems to be rising again.... finally. I sure don't see it around my area (San Fran Bay area / Sacramento) but maybe its starting to pick up more in the rural areas, or the mid-West, or back East, first ? What you will most often see around here, is where they raise a million trout in a swimming pool. Dump them in a pond. Then people pay $ to go pull them right back out, then tell you, they are a fisherman And the best part for these guys, is that they can just let these fish swallow there powerbait all the way down, while they play on their iPhones LOL Anyway, although I'm still not completely convinced (studies often say, what the researchers want them to say) I do thank you for the heads up tbone. I'll definately keep this book open now. Peace, Fish
  16. Okay. So I signed it..... for what it's worth. The fact is though {and I know fishermen hate to hear me say this} but fishing methods, and opportunities in general, will be picked away, little by little, until in 20 or 30 years... certainly no more than 50, fishing as a sport, will no longer exist.... except maybe on private land. Too many kids glued to a TV, or an iPhone. Not enough time left for "the real world". Fish
  17. Those Dodges are great looking / performing trucks The diesel will be good for you guys with those heavy, high-per bass boats. For myself, my 5.4L V8 is already way more than I need to pull my 14ft aluminum. I have literally forgot it was back there, then punched it, and jumped on the freeway going 70mph ! Doh ! It's 55mph with a trailer ! Back off, back off..... Oh hey though, those new Dodges come available in a color somewhere between gold, and brown. One of the nicest stock paint colors on the road ! Fish
  18. I'd rather watch paint dry, than ball sports Obviously then, I'd rather fish.... but anything that gets me outside, photography, hiking, etc, is all WAAY better than being "trapped" in a darn house, glued to a TV..... no matter what the heck is on.... but most especially, if its just a bunch of grown men kicking, throwing, or hitting a ball around. If I were into ball sports, I'd be on the field playing them. Not watching them on TV. Peace, Fish
  19. I've never kept birds, but I love them I think they would be awesome pets Hey, check out this African gray.... Peace, Fish
  20. Thanks guys These are the typical Goldeneyes we have... Peace, Fish
  21. Thank you Darren Their were actually 'regular' Goldeneyes there too, but I tried mostly for these, as I'd never shot them before..... Peace, Fish
  22. I know I've seen these before, but I've never photographed them until yesterday. Beautiful birds, huh ? I can't seem to find them on any North Western Waterfowl lists..... Peace, Fish
  23. Ha ! That is freaking hilarious ! I wonder how it would sound on my truck stereo ??? It will be pretty funny if I could convince somebody that my stereo was not playing anything....... but that I had just done a bunch of motor / exhaust work LOL Peace, Fish
  24. Redline, Holy #$#$ ! I've always loved Raptors..... but a Hennessey tuned one ? 590bhp ?!?! That's just bad a** ! Alright, mine ain't quite that cool ..... but I bet mine has a nicer stereo system LOL Hey now, I have actually been kind of dreaming of one, with a good lift, 37"s, and painted sage green matte, blacked out Theirs a couple nice black ones here in town..... But they are going for like $45-52K as is. Can't imagine what that Hennesey tuning would cost ? Then paint, lift, 37"s.... I could see a toy like this running $100K before it was all finshed. Lots iog $$$ for a poor guy.... Peace, Fish Edit: Redline, I hadn't even looked at the vid when I first posted this ^..... Geez, that thing sounds so mean $69K ! Oh.... but it should be a Supercab Fish
  25. Hey BTW, I don't know what I was thinking when I said, "Sickest half ton truck ever"........ Everybody knows this is the "Sickest half ton truck ever" LOL I like it way better with the camo kick panels.... But I like this shot taken at Bodega Bay a lot too Here's the front end.... looks better (cleaner) now, without the license plate And what is a truck... or any vehicle, without a little sound system, right Peace, Fish
