  3. came home towing 50+ mph over a mountain road for an hour last turn before home and the leaf spring breaks going 10 mph. dont know why it didnt break on that mountain only the grace of god i guess.
  4. They are very comparable, however I would lean toward dobyns because Powell discontinued the TiMax and the warranty sucks, If you break a timax you get a Max 3D as a replacement.
  5. a timax is comparable. id check out a DX705c. and if u dont mind the length a DX784c too light for frogs but an awesome rod
  6. I run a HS club out here in CALI. If your joining TBF/SAF then the only requirement is insurance and some who is 19+ and out of HS to drive. i.e. it is all team tournaments meaning 3 people on the boat.
  7. agreed i think it will be an improvement
  8. It'll be a spin off a 765 CB Glass that LOTS of people prefer for chatters
  9. Does any one know where I could get a lighter spool for a lews tournament MB. I want the rod to pitch better. Thinking of the spool and boca bearings. Any suggestions?
  10. The blank on the new champion extremes is the same no change except for cosmetics. Got a chance to handle one, might be SLIGHTLY lighter or better balanced and the look good, I didn't see a need to change it from the old design but I guess manufactures have to change it up every so often to keep us interested.
  11. Thank you for your response. I will definitely change my hookset per your instructions
  12. along with a flawed hookset
  13. I believe the weight causes the most problems also
  14. I set the hook upwards and to my right. I'm using a Team Lew's lite.
  15. do YOU like micro guides? I run mostly powells and dobyns awesome rods. I think Monster fishing tackle has a deal going. http://www.*.com/Powell-Rods-s/282.htm two infernos for $135!!!!
  16. I've been fishing 3/4 oz football heads and have been getting a lot of bites. I loose a bunch of fish though. I get a good set on em, and bring em up. One jump and they're off. its happened way too much. Any way to fix it. Its being thrown on a dobyns dx 784 and 15lb flouro. I don't think its the equipment. Any suggestions appreciated.
  17. For dragging and casting 3/8 to 1/2 ounce jigs? Any experience?
  18. Opinions and reviews? How does the sensitivity compare to other rods? Dobyns powells Loomis etc.
  19. wrong forum. Could a MOD move this to general please.?
  20. Hi all i was looking for some advice on fishing my home lake. It is a very clear deep reservoir that has usually developed a good amount of grass on along the shoreline by this time of year, this year has not been the case. falling lake levels have made any grass that tries to come up die quickly. This lack of cover has forced the fish deep, very deep. 45+ feet all the way to over 80ft deep. I'm looking for any advice, Thanks!
  21. I use a dobyns champion extreme DX705C for this exact technique. The rod is worth the $$$ IMHO. It is a designated pitching stick, but can be used for so much more. The rod can easily handle larger baits and line that is used for this technique. The rods length is a nice happy medium, is long enough for quick hook sets yet short enough for accurate pitching. Its a fast action but loads up nicely to keep the fish pinned. The most important part, its POWERFUL. With heavy line you can turn big fish.
  22. try and find an old powell max frog rod. specific for frogging. perfect tip. can be found used for or new if your lucky.
  23. as the title reads. wgats your favorite over the counter jig? i know im gonna get a lot of sieberts, but please feel free to expand your opinions.
  24. 1. 14lb fluoro 2. 16lb fluoro 3. Two different baits. Frogs 50lb braid, and 30lb braid to a 17lb mono leader for walking baits 4. 12lb mono 5. depends on cover, 14lb-16lb fluoro or 30lb braid 6. 30lb braid, ill add an appropriate leader if necessary, 12lb-16lb fluoro 7. 7lb fluro 8. 8lb-12lb fluoro (8 for spinning gear 12 for casting gear) 9. 12lb fluoro 10. 12-14lb fluoro ***All fluoro is SUNLINE SNIPER*** ***All Braid is power pro OG***
