  1. It looks like a bowfin?
  2. Nice catches vma! Im digging the frog bite right now too. I fish primarily from shore as i dont own a boat. Thanks for the reports, hopefully this tropical storm doesnt shut the bite down too much
  3. I agree. This is my second season using frogs. Last year i used mono and a spinning combo. Countless blowups and 1 caught all season. My rig was too light and i was setting the hook too soon. Switched to mh baitcast setup, 30lb power pro, and i wait until i feel the fish before i set the hook. Lost count of how many ive caught but my hookup ratio is at least 80 percent now. And have thay senko ready, ive caught alot on the follow up too!
  4. I use 30lb power pro and a 10lb redline leader.
  5. I may not be doing this right but im using 30 lb power pro on my frog setup with no issues. In fact i drug half a tree to the bank the other day, had to cut the line because i couldnt reach the frog from where ibwas and the 30 lb wouldnt break.
  6. Thanks for the report, hate to hear the skunk showed up. Where are you fishing and what were you using?
  7. Tatula Elaztec stick worms Jennings ultra scale
  8. Yes all shallow, the big one was in about a foot of water. It helped that we had alot of cloud cover yesterday, looks like today is going to be similar!
  9. Made it out this morning expecting the skunk since we had the storms last night. Im glad i went, it was one of the best days ive had all year. The usually clear water was stained, i found the fish along lines where the muddy water met the stained water. Frogs, flukes, and sk zero worms. The smallest was just over 1lb, lots of 2 and 3lbs, and the biggest went 4.2.
  10. What do you do for getting deeper?
  11. Its that time of year again, my holes are starting to get choked by weeds and algae. Ive had success with topwater frogs and texas rigged plastics but i want to know if theres more techniques i could be using. What are your favorite techniques and baits to use in these situations? Also what tips and tricks do you have that help in the slop?
  12. Im interested in your grooving issues. Do you have any other pics of the groove. What do you think is causing it? Do you finger your line as you fish? Im a new owner of a tatula and just want to make sure this doesnt happen to me
  13. I start itching about 1 or two days after a trip (depending on how well that particular trip went) 3 or 4 days and im usually running a fever. Havent gone longer than a week since spring so im not sure what a week or longer would do to me.
  14. At some point in the last 2 trips i managed to lose the dust cap assembly on my pflueger president (6930) does anyone know a good place to get a replacement. I tried contacting pflueger and they were no help.
  15. Thanks for the info. The part i was worried about was the actual bushings. There was a gritty feeling when the knob was turned. I played with it some more and it looks like daiwa packed a ton of grease into this bushing, lots of gray grease comming out and the gritty feeling went away. Another question, when the time comes to clean this part, should i use grease or oil? I always use oil so its weird to me that they use grease from the factory.
  16. Biggest bass of the day
  17. Got to go to a new hole this morning. Fish were hot on frogs but i missed every one due to me being inexperienced with a baitcaster. Luckily i knew to throw a follow up bait wheb they missed and i ended up landing 6 total. I also got a scale since my last trip, biggest fish today was 2.25 lbs. Its funny how much smaller the bass get when you put them on a scale! Im just going to work on catching bigger fish.
  18. Went out this morning with my brand new tatula. First time on the water and it is an awesome reel. Unfortunately i got a little grit on one of the handle knobs. It gummed up a bit and i was wondering how to get this part clean. Do the knobs come off the handles or will i have to clean them while attached? Thanks
  19. I love this! I think this is the best explanation as to why bass go after our lures!
  20. Welcome to the forums!
  21. Thanks for the report, good luck with the tourney!
  22. went out twice this weekend, saturday morning and sunday night. Saturday morning was cold and windy. I managed 4 and my uncle who hasnt fished in years also caught 4, overall it was a slow but great day. Sunday night was the night. I landed my unverifiable personal best! I tried to measure it but between the dark, bad camera, and excitement i was only able to take rough measurements. I know by feel alone that it was the biggest I have ever caught. The BR length/girth calculator says 4.44 lbs so ill go with that but i know it was bigger! Lesson learned, I went home and immediately ordered a scale! All the fish this weekend came on a strike king zero worm, watermelon color t-rigged.
  23. Dont let a bad trip get you down. Its no fun getting skunked, believe me ive been skunked more times than not!
  24. Nope, he went straight for it! Hooked him right through the bottom lip. Frogs arent built like fish (squishy and less dense) so the hook was harder to get out than i thought it would be but he swam away fine. That'll teach him to eat his offspring!
