  1. Is drag lockdown the same as max drag? I lockdown my drag when frogging and its never slipped, jusy curious if locking it down prevents slip or am i not at max drag force when i set the hook and fight the fish
  2. This is funny! I sometimes take videos but cant watch them later becasue i sound like a blabbering school girl when i talk about my catch!
  3. Yup. Thats why i got a scale. Id rather be honest than deceiving, makes that elusive 5lb bass all the more bigger when i finally catch her! I dont fish to brag, k fish because i enjoy it.
  4. Nice fish, 5 in a morning aint bad!
  5. This guy was caught on a miserable day, right after a flood!
  6. I primarily fish ponds so i dont know about lakes. In experience though, rising water can slow the bite. On the other hand i have found rising waters to increase the bite. One thing to consider is the fish usually hunker down tight to cover during these times. This means theyre not moving around or chasing baits. It also means that a spot you could reach from the bank before may not be accesible because of higher water. Water clarity is another factor. When the water gets murky i use it to my advantage. Look for spots where there is clear water and murky water and fish that line. There is usually current flowing at this point and the bass use this as an ambush point, waiting for the food to come to them. One final thought, your weekend warriors and white bucket fishermen arent that dedicated to the sport so rain and crappy conditions keep them away, meaning less pressure and more water for you to fish. I get excited when i see overcast drizzly days for this reason alone!
  7. When you get it dont look back. Got mine for xmas and i have put it through the ringer. I bank fish and it has been rough housed quite a bit and is still going strong.
  8. Ive wanted to try the jawbone line of products, let us know how they do
  9. Haha baby gators! I thought turtles were bad, guess i should consider myself lucky!
  10. I think youre on the right track. The type of frog doent matter so much as the size and color. I also use booyah pad crashers and the h20 tiny toads. The pad crashers are pretty big compared to the scum and h20 frogs. Right now, in my waters, smaller is key. As far as colors, light or dark bellies, thats all i care about. Use one or the other depending on the lighting conditions. Im pretty sure bass dont see what brands of frogs we use. Where im throwing them i doubt they even see a frog, just something moving on the surface, an easy meal. Not saying there isnt a place for the other types and brands of frogs, i just like to keep it simple and not overthink it
  11. Caught these this morning from the bank on a white scum frog. Who says you need a boat!?
  12. Id definitely go. Ive had very successful days following big rains
  13. Ive caught bass in 6 inches of water with a popper.
  14. Im jealous of all this tourney talk, anyone in okc area know of anything like this
  15. This. Spend as much time as you can on the water
  16. Dont beat yourself up over it, the fish made a meal for someone and it didnt go to waste. Last night i put a 3/0 hook though a fishs head, long ways! It was a dink so there was no keeping it, threw it back in the water and it swam off. That fish is dead today for sure, it happens. All we can do is take the best care we can but its still a blood sport in the end.
  17. Ive been practicing my backhand cast too. Working from the bank, i realized how many good spots ive been passing up by not having that technique down. Ive been killing it with frogs from the bank though!
  18. When i first started catching fish on a baitcaster i would accidentally put pressure on the thumb bar while fighting fish. It would partially disengage the spool and grind, stop, freespool, etc. Just acted plain wierd! I thought my reel was messed up until i realized it was my error. Not saying this is your problem but just something to consider.
  19. This stuff works great for hand tools too!
  20. I use these hooks too when i think i may lose a few. Very sharp out of the package and will stay sharp for an entire morning. The cost is icing on the cake.
  21. Tatula online. Go to bps and try one (or all of them for that matter!) on the rod before purchasing one that YOU like the best.
  22. To be honest we dont have them here in oklahoma but id love to catch them sometime! The fish in the pic on this thread looks like it could put up a mean fight. Nice catch by the way!
  23. If it isnt, what is it?
