  1. Been having success with senkos after 930 at night. The fish dont seem to wake up until then. This recent heat wave isnt helping things though!
  2. Here she is, only way to tell how big is by looking at my hand vs her mouth. Came on a beat up booyah pad crasher.
  3. Ive only been out a few times the last couple of weeks. Got skunked one evening, first one in a long time. Ive found that the topwater frog action has diminished but am having some luck with t-rigged senkos. I also caught my pb but didnt have a scale. She came out if a private lake so it was kind of a ringer.
  4. If youve got the room, double or tripple bag the carcasses, throw them in the freezer until trash day then take them out.
  5. Ive noticed the last few times out that the fish have been hitting harder than usual, pulling a lot more drag than i ever remember. Ive lost a few good ones too when they jump. When you say 'hot' are you referring to their actual temperature? I know their metabolism speeds up so does this also mean the fish fight harder?
  6. Ive seen it on spawning fish, it looks like healing wounds to me, possibly scar tissue also
  7. Anyone here have or used a vibe sea ghost 130? Im in the market for a good kayak, so far i like jackson cuda and big rig but they are a bit out of my budget. I havent had a chance to get put my hands on a vibe just wondering how good they are as a fishing platform.
  8. Reviving an old thread here, just picked (stole it for 27 bucks) up a motive mv100. Seems like a great reel, ill post later this week about how it performs
  9. Yup I have a lot of confidence in the albright. The only time one has failed on me was because i didnt tie it properly.
  10. One thing to try, go at an oddball time when most people arent there. Really early or really late after the pressure has died down. Avoid weekends if your schedule allows. I fish a heavily pressured park pond and have found early mornings at the end of the work week (thus or fri) are very productive. I believe during the work week less people are inclined to fish and the fish get a little more comfortable. On the weekends everyone and their mom is out so the pressure shuts them down. Just my 2 cents.
  11. Fished a pond here in okc and caught one on a topwater frog. For the last few weeks i havent been able to really find a pattern. What has been working for everyone else?
  12. Ive never ran straight fc on my 6930 but i run 30lb braid with a fc leader always. Im not an expert but i think you could run into issues running straight fc.
  13. For those of you in the knoe, whats a healthy per acre number?
  14. Id be out there right now, this moment, especially in the rain!
  15. X2 Also limit the amount of gear you take. I take 2 rods, a spinning and a bait caster. Its easier for me to tie on a new bait than to keep up with and fight 4 or 5 rods tangling up etc. Night fishing has become my favorite recently. Go out, catch some hogs, have fun, and BE SAFE!
  16. Are you fishing from shore or do you have a boat. A good friend just bought a house in purcell but he doesnt know much about the lake.
  17. Went out to the pond this morning, it poured last night so i wasnt expecting much. The water was very high and tea colored or muddy. Once the sun came up the frog bite was on! I stopped counting but i caught between 12 and 15, smallest a pound and largest just under 3. Im loving the summer more and more as less people show up to fish, just me and one other person out there morning.
  18. Went to prague city lake this morning and had a rough day. Caught 1 small bass and a crappie, my friend caught 2 bluegill. We threw everything at them! The water was pretty dirty from the rain plus a storm rolled through last night. There was also a kayak tournament going on. Talking to them, it was a hard day to be on the water for any fisherman. Oh well, cant win them all and i kept the skunk away
  19. Not sure what kind of cover is around the farm ponds but ive found a shorter rod sometimes helps with the cast in tight quarters. I use a 6'9 and i wouldnt go any longer fishing from the bank.
  20. Cant help on the fishing but im jealous! Head to beavers bend for trout if the bass dont want to play
  21. X2 Ive been fishing in the dark as much as i can this season and it has trained me very well to feel the bites rather than see them.
  22. Quick! Get that dude spooled up and on the water!
  23. So if my max drag is 13lbs at lockdown why the need for 50lb plus braid? I could see 20 to 30 lb braid, but does the line itself ever see this kind of strain before the drag slips? Is it more of a diameter issue or is there a point where braid fails before the drag? Just a thought thats been rolling around in my head the last few times ive been out.
