  1. So previously I had concluded (albeit with cautious optimism), that this glide bait may actually be the best glide bait for the money. Wrong…I have since found a problem within its particular “swim envelope” it seems at slow retrieve speeds, and after pauses, it has this tendency to right itself, and just come in straight. Straight as driftwood. After casting, I find it needing a pop of the rod tip to start the retrieve reliably. no other glide baits that I use have this problem. So yeah, a little disappointing still most of the time it swims very nicely. Just have to be mindful of those pauses and slow speeds

  4. Always dirty, always dank. Well that’s good to know. I was concerned that my hudds were too subtle.
  5. I do have those, but how about for those deeper water occasions?
  6. So for dirty stained water, visibility of 12in or less at times… My thought was to use 6”-8” paddle/boot tail swimbaits for the vibration. I didn’t figure more subtle actions would be as effective. But I also figure larger glide baits that put off big side flash, actually do make sense in these conditions. Not sure about multi jointed swimbaits in dank water such as this, but I do like the variety of ways available to change up the retrieve. What say you, El Gurus of the big bait?
  7. Oh ok, well I’m accustomed to slobbing saliva on my knots, so I think I’m ok there.
  8. Burn the line? Not sure what you mean by that
  9. Right, guess I’m just concerned about that leader knot introducing an additional point of failure possibility
  10. And I presume a braid/leader is not advisable? Just the straight mono or flouro by itself?
  11. Just had a line failure recently during a cast. So, I figured I’d pose the question, looking for recommendations.. for casting a 3-4oz swimbait, what would be the proper line weight that would not break off in mid swing? Btw….I opted to post in this forum, despite it being a line question, because I preferred to draw the attention of the seasoned swimbait users in particular, for best advice.
  12. Thank you gents, I appreciate the input
  13. I was today years old, when I first heard of this issue

  18. Greetings gents, Could someone please point me in the right direction, to purchase round rubber skirt material online? much appreciated, thank you
  19. I edited the main post with an additional point
  20. Nice, we’re they the 6” jelly worms?
  21. So just for kicks, Im running a little experiment to compare how effective these two colors are…or are not. it’s not the most controlled conditions, but im drop-shotting two trick worms - old purple - sapphire blue So far in typical stain-funk pond water, working in the same two ponds each time, the blue worm is showing a clear 4:1 advantage over the purple, so far. I gotta admit, the purple is not doing so well. I should add, so far it takes for more time and effort for the purple worm to catch a fish. When using the blue worm, the fish are caught quicker. And at times, the blue worm catches the fish in the same place where the purple worm did not, just a few minutes before It’s been interesting. I’ll continue this on for while, then trade out with some clear water
  22. x2 for the Rugby Heads Ok those look great
  23. The smallmouth here have been enjoying these lil Tappers as well
  24. I’ll provide a general overview response, because quite honestly, my specifics really don’t matter, as that can vary from place to place. Minimalist fishing comes having the fish in your favorite hole pretty well dialed in. Learning over time what their behavior is like over the changing seasons, and changing daily conditions. After dissecting the water and gaining an understanding of what baits they hit the best, with the most consistency, then how to minimalize your bank fishing becomes second nature. Therefore, I take with me only the baits I’ve had the most consistent success with, under all or most conditions, at THAT specific location. That being said, being early summer, I’ll be packing for both bass and big Bluegill.
  25. Especially with soft plastic craws. Get some browns in there
