  1. In case you haven't seen it, an article just for us on the home page. Don’t Put Your Bass Fishing On Ice by Pete Anderson
  2. NAVY 1966-1969 Enlisted 6 days before I turned 18 so only had to serve 3 yrs. Homeported out of San Diego on the U.S.S. Cocopa.
  3. Alas...the lake I know so well hasn't been very kind to me this fall. Fished her for 4 hrs yesterday with little to show. WT 51.8 Anyway,,,time to put the gear away,,,prepare for winter,,,and maybe see a chiropractor,,,
  4. I did fish Swan for a little over 5 hours on Saturday. September haunts were devoid of bass but after a couple of hours found some on the windward side of the lake's main point. 12-15 fish with roughly 50% 12" and under. Most were taken yo-yoing a S.K. red eyed shad from 5 to 8' of water. The two largest, a 19 and 16 incher, were taken on a swim jig and a slow rolling spinner bait. WT 51.8 degrees Bass fishing in November and actually catching a few,,,who would have thought???
  5. Yeah the age old dilemma,,,if we don't go out it's for sure we won't catch anything, Fought the idea of going out again all week but ,,,maybe I'll see you on Swan tomorrow.
  6. Hey shimmy,,,fished N as planned,,,but not much to report. I suppose one could conclude lack of ability but i think it was the tough conditiions I was facing. Pike bite has really cooled with one bite off and one to boat on the northern end of the cove. Slowed down a bit and worked the area throughly just in case there were some bass hanging around, On the main lake by 2 where green weed lines were a little more definitive. At 5 let the wind blow me down the length of the western shore and sped things up a bit with a slow spinner bait. WT reached 49 by 2 PM but never did make it to 50. Wind was managablae in the morn but the afternoon was wicked, Overall it was a day filled with anticipation that wasn't dampened much by not finding bass, Not a bad way to end the season Thanks for sharing your success on and tips for the "mystery lake"
  7. Well I'll be darned! Don't fish N much anymore and haven't been back in where I guess your photo was taken in many years. Huh! Would have thought to shallow this time of year. Establishing a pattern is even tougher when you get on the water around 2 and have the added pressure of diminishing daylight. Slow rolling a spinner bait has been about the slowest I've been able to force myself to go. Anyway,,,20 not winterized yet,,, weather decent Thursday,,, I'll review your report and try to be on N by 9,,, will let you know how It goes down.?
  8. It doesn't but it's kind of a mute point looking at your fishing report. And yeah,,,even four hrs in a boat with you no doubt would have been invaluable to me. However,,,my progression as a bass fisherman in the last 3 years or, more importantly. lack of progression the previous 35 is no doubt a topic for another forum,
  9. Yeah for sure,,,I'm thinking tomorrow might be my last time out.
  10. Beauties! Unfortunately can't make this morn but will be in the area around 1 pm. Arrived at the P.A. at 1:15 Since you weren't there decided to give your 5 lbers a chance to recoup so they'd be push overs later on in the week. But getting back to the lake,,,yeah,,,if you were in the area it would be one you'd probably hit,,,quite a coincidence especially since it's the first time I've fished it this year. The other problem I see is that I'm pretty sure the shoreline/structures pictured behind you don't exist on this lake. What's the max depth of the lake pictured?
  11. Tues PM,,, Wonder if shimmy recognizes this one??? before,,,,during,,,and after Anway,,,another pike bite although smaller on average then week before last ,,biggest around 26, Super aggressive,,,had one bite off with mono, another with braid but that one was in the boat, and a cut off for the cooler because it took the plug so deeply I did lose a nice bass,,,maybe a 17-19 incher, that hit a crank right by boat side and with no hook set went down and was gone. Half hour later, off a different shore,,,had a heavy fish strike hard and then go down and dirty for x # of seconds before getting off. Probably a big pike? Chatter Bait had skirt and 3" grub pulled down the hook shank but no tears so who knows. At sundown a lot of surface activity with bass harassing schools of baitfish feeding on midges, Took three 14-16" before dark and more approaching weather clued it was time to leave. TEMP Air-- 52 degrees Water-- 54+ Depth-- 6-10 in and on the outside edge of the green October Rain-- colder than a witch's kiss
  12. Tlauz I was out Saturday too from 2 until to a liitle after dark. WT 54-55 Early on, picked up an 18 incher slow rolling a spinner bait on the outside edge of the 9' green and my optimism soared. 4 hrs later,,, on a lake I know well and after trying both vertical and horizontal presentations in the high percentage spots,,,it was the only fish I caught or had on for that matter. In regards to the 18 though,,,it was a honker. So much so that I intially tried to stretch another inch out of it on the bump board. It weighed in at 4 lbs! well,,,actually 3.95 give or take a couple of hundreds.
  13. Nice and congrats on a new PB!
  14. Fiske Lake shimmy? Never heard of it! It's Lake Anna. Seriously,,,Fiske is probably the only lake in OtterTail Co. to have a 24" bass turn up in a DNR fish survey. Pike's-ville yesterday....10 or more with two 26 inchers, one 27, and this one at a little over 29. 8 or 9 bass all under 13" although did lose a decent one on the jump. WT 55.6 degrees and a pleasant NNW breeze at 10-15 In retrospect,,,stayed with a shallow crank longer than I should have and ran out of daylight,
  15. Been finding numbers of small bass in realitively shallow water because wind has either forced me there or has kept me off the water entirely. I suppose 10-30 fish under 14" with most under 12 are better than nothing but I could do that all summer long up in the shallows. Yesterday was another bust,,,length wise. WT 58,6 to 57.8 degrees,,,largest bass 15" The fish were sluggish including the 4 or 5 small pike that half-heartedly hooked themselves. 11 AM update::: ,It's 38 degrees,,,wind W at 20 gusting to high 20's,,,and I"m really lamenting the end of summer
