Depending on your meaning for traditional this isn't exactly true. Pink "originally" didn't have any gender ties. It was in the early 1900's that people started associating colors with genders. I am getting serious kayak *** here. I have been eye balling the ATAK for a while now. Contemplating a possible upgrade next year. The only issue is cost. The kayak itself isn't too bad, but tack on a trailer, tow package for my car, possible motor or pedal drive, and things start climbing. So much so that I am actually debating between a fully rigged ATAK and a proper boat. Has anything heard any speculation over how much the motor will be. I saw the device it is based on and it runs as much as the ATAK. As cool as that is I just don't know how feasible it will be. I am also curious about how it will do in really shallow water or water with heavy weeds. I would hate to get hung up all the time, especially if I am on a river.

This is good info Bait'r. I have been working on fishing spooks too, and have got to the point that I can actually keep them going consistently. I haven't really tried this technique with a frog. Your comment about making the most of that gap in the pads really kind of sunk in for me though. I am definitely going to work on walking a frog and give it a shot next time I am out.

This right here. If they would make one that is under 1 oz (would that be more of a mouse?) and costs less than $20 I would definitely get one. Given the semi-aquatic nature of rats it should be a no-brainer. Perhaps I need to work on creating my own... Might be a good winter project. Update - I just looked at the TW site and they have the smaller versions of the Spro BBZ-1 slated for December of this year. The smallest only weights 1/2 oz. Next size up is 1 oz. Definitely doable with my gear. I will have to put these on my list for Christmas.

I am a new addict where hollow body frogs are concerned. I too just recently started using them consistently. I caught my first one about a month ago. This past weekend I actually caught a new PB using a frog (see my profile pic). I still can't get them every time but I feel like I am getting better at setting the hook. The funniest blow up I had though didn't result in a hookset. I had casted my frog between two trees, and ended up with my line over a branch. Just as I started reeling up away from the water a bass blew up on it. It managed to come out all the way to the tip of it's tail. It was really cool to see. I have had lures get hung up on limbs a bunch of times, and always wondered what would happen if a fish grabbed it in the air, but honestly I never thought I would see it. Like I said though, now I am completely addicted to frog fishing. Too bad I had to get "hooked" so late in the summer. At least the water stays pretty warm around here late into the fall so I should still have a few more weeks of froggin'.

I have put in probably 40+ hours in at that lake over 8-10 trips. I have caught fish there (my profile pic was taken there) but not many. Since it was the spot I caught my first bass at I kind of got stuck in a rut and kept going back hoping for more. In all the time I have spent on that lake I think I have only caught about 6 bass and maybe 2 bluegill. I have been told there are a lot of bass in there, including some biggies, but I just have not seen them yet. Now having said that I have not written that lake off either. All those pads just make me drool for some great frog fishing, I just haven't been able to make it a reality yet. I think for me the issue is finding fish. I haven't been out there since I picked up a fish finder, but without one if I couldn't find them in the pads I was out of luck. The other point I should make is that this lake has very heavy vegetation even outside of the pads. This really limits you to weedless lures. Even in places where the weeds do not break the surface I struggled to use topwater lures like buzzbaits. Things like crankbaits, or treble hook baits are straight out of the question for large portions of the lake. Since I caught my first bass at this lake it will always be special to me, but at the same time I have to think there are better, more reliable, spots out there. I just haven't found them yet.
