  1. Do you have a pedal kayak? I saw someone on a yak out today. Any luck? I was surprised with how many musky guys were out today, but I guess it makes sense given the packer bye week.
  2. Tomorrow should be calmer, so if you're up to bigger water I would recommend pewaukee or okauchee. The waukesha lakes might deliver better results. Lately, most of my fish have come on spinnerbaits, but there are a lot of pike mixed in.
  3. We went with Andrew Tippler (lastcastcharters.net) out of Cudjoe Key last November and had a great time. We were on fish the whole time and caught a lot of different species that were targeted. Even got a tarpon off peak season. We are heading down again this November and have a day booked with him again. He has a flats boat, bay boat, and an off shore boat so he can cover anything and is able to change it up if the weather calls for something other than what was planned.
  4. How much stretch is there on the defier? I currently have 20# CXX on my swim bait rod and am looking for something thinner with less stretch. I use braid with leaders on most of my other setups and feel the stretch with CXX has hurt my hook sets and caused list fish.
  5. I have a 6'8" MXF ltb that's very nice. Rated to 5/8, I normally throw jerkbaits and top waters on it. Most are around 1/2 oz and it handles them perfectly. In a pinch I tied on a spinnerbait with trailer that was probably closer to 3/4 and it worked fine. Not its best use, but it wasn't a problem either.
  6. Ha, I was at the game a couple years ago that was supposed to be -8* at kickoff. I think it was closer to 0 with all the people. Wore my blaze orange hunting gear and was comfortable. Had to take my gloves off at times to cool off. It's an amazing place to watch a game. I would recommend going if you ever get a chance.
  7. Didn't go to the game. Some old neighbors have a place on a lake and were having people over for the game. Figured I would do some fishing before the game started. Ended up being a beautiful day in the fifties and got 8 fish on lake I've never fished. Then the packers pulled out an ugly win. Overall a great day.
  8. Hey! It's 34* right now!!! I'm heading out to fish until the packers game starts.
  9. I love fishing a ned rig on a 6'9" mlxf avid. Might be more tha you want to spend but the rages are on sale and the new mojos have the sciii blank.
  10. I have the 580g and my wife has the 580p. Not sure I can tell a difference on the mirror finish. P are definitely lighter. The glass more scratch resistant and I think slightly clearer. We are both happy with our choice.
  11. +1 The flouro leader also makes retying a lot faster and easier.
  12. Spinnerbaits. Been catching some decent ones lately and a nice musky.
  13. Nope. I'm a righty with all left hand retrieve reels and it feels a ton more natural and comfortable. Fish what works best for you.
  14. St Croix premier is available in 6' mhf.
  15. I have one big plastic box (15 qt) that holds my soft baits in thier original packages. I put some cardboard in there to separate them by type.
  16. I use the 300D for swim baits any where 1 oz to 4oz and it works great.
  17. I used my wife's 6'9" MLXF avid this past weekend with a Ned rig. It was amazing. Now I'm trying to justify a 2016 legend elite 6'10" MLXF.
  18. My order was also delayed. Just checked and it now says it will be delivered Friday. I'm glad I should still have my order for Saturday morning fishing.
  19. I took off the cap on the 4000 and there wasn't a screw underneath. The schematic only had one part for the handle assembly, which I ordered. Live and learn. Now we have a better idea of what works for her.
  20. Ok. Finally found them on Shimano's website and ordered them. Thanks for the help.
  21. I don't think the knobs are removable. Do you guys know where I can order the handle assembly?
  22. My wife has a Sahara 3000 and a Sahara 4000 spinning reels and can't stand the T-handles. Is there a source for the normal 2500 style handles, or even better the ci4+ Eva style handles if they would fit? The reels work fine and it seems like a new handle at a reasonable price would be a better solution than having to buy new reels.
  23. I have a Sahara 4000 with 40lb braid on it. It works fine, but there isn't any need to go with that large of a reel. It should be fine on any 2500 or larger reel as stated above.
  24. I like them better. They cast much better and can be set much deeper while remaining castable. You can also work the bait easier with a slip bobber. After growing up with clip bobbers, I can't see ever going back to them.
