  1. The most important step, and darn near impossible. Is to remove the battery immediately and refrain from turning it on until about 3 days later after it is really really dry (after the rice trick) Shorting the components out further is what you are trying to avoid. It is an impossible urge to fight so be warned. After three days if it is not working try the following. Strip the device as much as possible and soak the components (except battery) in separate clean, soap residue free, dishes with distilled water then rinse with more distilled water. Let dry. If that doesnt work try it with isopropyl alcohol. Its not the water, its the impurities in the water that cause a lingering short to the components.
  2. I read all the time.
  3. That's so what I was fining out the hard way! After sifting through so many of the advanced topic posts I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. This site is such a help. I've got one Medium action Bionic Blade and a Quantum Catalyst spinning reel. Seems Shimano is the preferred reel company by many. Anyhow, thanks to this site Ive keep a very small tackle box, really just a tackle tray. This post seems to sum up what has been a mountain of info on this forum. Thanks!
  4. I got hooked on bass fishing when a bud took me fishing on a river for smallmouth in MD. We had a Yum Dinger worm rigged with the hook poked through the middle. Senkos are the same thing it seems. From reading the boards we had our worms rigged wacky style and would toss them up stream and let em float down and twitch em every so often. Worked like a champ
  5. Ah, tis tough. My trips so far on the bank have been a mixed bag. Most of the time I can't walk the bank to try all these diffrent spots since they are camped. People fishing for Cats and bluegill. I do my best to be courteous but I still get some looks.
  6. Thanks Will and Roadwarrior. I'll tuck that nugget away.
  7. How much memory does the spider wire have? I read another post about putting a new spool of line in hot water to 'reset' the memory on spinning reels. Mine is a spinning Quantum Catalyst Pi and I like the tip. I don't know how that would work on the a baitcaster like the Abu. I can backlash a baitcaster pretty quick since I've only touched one once or twice.
  8. Intresting, I live in the south Lexington area.
  9. If I knew what unit the guy was attached too I think notifying the first shirt would be more productive. Its bad enough when you can't 'call out' someones kids when they are unsupervised without getting a load of grief from the parents. I know mine would have been appreciative for it and I came out all the better. When the parents are the ones making the bad decisions... sheesh.
  10. I think I'm too new to bass fishing to have made may bad habits. I am looking forward to finding out what I've got! Tho, from my brief stints along the bank. I do see that a great many fishermen have a litterbug problem. :'(
