Have not used the Abu Garcia or lews, but I do own a couple curado I's. Let me tell ya, best bang for your buck in a reel in my opinion, especially if you can pick one up new for $120-130. Super smooth, casts a mile, and built like a tank. Definitely gets my vote.
For what you listed, I personally you take the 703. Although it probably won't have the power to fish a frog. It's gonna be hard to find a rod that can fish both crankbait and a frog. But like I said originally if you don't plan on fishing a frog then get the 703. It will fish like most other people's mediums, where as the 704 is more like a medium heavy.
You should be fine. I assume by heavy you meant a 734. If that's the case you will be just fine. I own champion 734 and it does the job. The 734 have a light tip to go along with the back bone. Plus it fishes more like a medium heavy in comparison to other rods in industry.
At that price I would find a lightly used or brand new during a sale, St Croix Avid/Avid X 6'8 MXF. Best rod for the price for those techniques if you ask me.
Please let me know how you like the 795 fury after u try it out?? I was thinking about getting one for ARigs. Really looking to hear a review on that rod. Thanks!
Well, the monkey really worked his magic on me this time... managed to get lots of money out of my pockets, but it was totally worth it... oh by the way, SHE SAID YES!! ..And yes I did it out on a boat, no better place to do it than out on the water doing some chilly fall bass fishing!!
Nothing like finding a Diamond in the Rough!!! very lightly used from my local tackle shop. Too bad there was only one.. typically you would have paid twice as much for one in worse condition on the bay! Can not explain my excitement!
Hey everyone, pretty new to A-Rig fishing but am looking to put together a setup for next spring. I was wondering what you all prefer. I have been reading numerous reviews. I'm a Shimano guy so I will prob go either with a curado 300e, Cardiff, or one of my 200e series reels. I have see both preferences on slower vs higher gear ratio but that seems to mainly be for keeping baits off the bottom??
One thing I can't seem to decide on would be line. Some throw braid and some through mono/copolly. I live in the north east so most of the water I fish is fairly clear. That being said I would assume I would start with copolly and see where I go from there? Probably 20lb mccoys xtra clear.
I would still like to hear suggestions on what you guys prefer, especially on a rod selection for under $200. The rig will most likely be a 5 wire with 1/8-1/4oz jig heads with skinny dippers/keitechs/swimming fluke on it. Thanks!!
I used to be a HUGE fan of the E series reels, citicas, curados, and chronarchs. That is until I tried the curado I and Chronarch CI4+. They just feel much more refined. Didn't think it could be possible since the curado is no longer made in Japan but I have yet to have an issue with mine. Slowly upgrading all my E series to I series. Not looking back, but to each is own.
