  1. If you are going new, I would pick up a curado I. You can get one new for around $130. Great reel at that price point.
  2. I have been using frog toggs the past year with no issues. Affordable and keeps you dry.
  3. I think a st croix avid 6'9 MLXF casting rod would be perfect for that application.
  4. My vote goes to st croix avid mhm. Awesome rod.
  5. This right here. I have a champion 702sf and an avid 6'9mlxf. The avid is more versitile no my opinion. Both excellent rods
  6. Another vote for Seaguar Red Label
  7. I believe the tackle trap sells these as well, and are very good people to work with. Give them a call.
  8. For your desired techniques, I would personally go with the savy 703. Perfect for those applications.
  9. Me personally, I use a st croix avid 6'8 MXF. Pair that with a chronarch 50E and 10 lb flouro. Man it's an awesome combo.
  10. If I were casting, I would opt for the longer rod. 7'3-7'6. I feel like i get a better hook up ratio with the added length. Also use a medium to lighter hook. No need for super line hooks here, especially if you plan on fishing flouro. If you plan on fishin braid or braid with leader I would go with a more moderate bend rod. Mod-fast to fast action. With all said and done, if I am casting jigs under half ounce, I am using my champion 734 with a 7 gear ratio and 15 lb flouro. It also doubles as a lighter Carolina Rig rod. 15 lb mainline with 12 lb leader. 7'3" rod is the length I like, along with the fast action. Hope this helps.
  11. Any 7-7'6 MHF-XF should work. Rod is completely preference. If it were me I would find one that balances well in you hand with your reel. Makes a world of difference when pitching all day. As far as specific rods in that range, I use two different ones with success: a used champion 734-735 or St Croix Avid 7'MH. Either will do you just fine. Depending on the weights you intend on throwing.
  12. I really enjoy fishing my Avids. I own 7 and love them all.
  13. Of the two you suggested, I would go with the 7' MF. I personally prefer MXF for those techniques.
  14. It's hard to go wrong with a Strike King KVD 1.5 in your price range. Great shallow crankbait for the price.
  15. Out of the two you listed, the Chronarch will do just fine. If I were you I would save a little and step down to a curado I if I was just bombing spinnerbaits.
  16. X2 have one in the champion series and love it. Very versitile, great for heavier swim jigs. If I'm fishing a 1/4 oz in sparse cover I'll step down to a 733. But for your case I would go 734.
  17. White ice
  18. If I remember correctly, they usually have one around the bas master classic for a week or two.
  19. According to TW, they have a 663 in the fury. $109.99. If you wait till the spring fishing sale, I'm sure you can get it for 15% off plus free shipping.
  20. X2. I'm currently using a St Croix avid X 6'8 mxf. In you price range I would look for a used avid with these specs or a new mojo bass with SCIII.
  21. Im using a dobyns champion 765 flip. I don't believe size matters (I'm 5'9-5'10). I got it for a steal here on the flea market. My advice is get a rod that balances with your intended reel. Having s balanced rod will really relieve strain on certain muscles for day long Matt punching.
  22. In that price range I would go either St Croix avid X or dobyns champion. I own both and they are both fantastic, you will not be dissapointed with either.
  23. Thanks for the response. Just hard because I have no where around me to get my hands in one. Other than small Jerkbaits, and I assume light poppers, is there anything else you eould recomend it for?
  24. Who has one? And what do you use it for? I'm intrigued my it. Sounds like a perfect rod for lite Jerkbaits like LC Pointer 78sp. Any help would be appreciated.
