  1. G Loomis has the GL2 rod for $200.00 It's there starter bass rod so there lowest priced bass rod. Duckett has the White Ice and it's there best rod for $200.00 so it there highest priced rod.. Which rod is a better value considering the rods are the exact same length and weight rating? Of course there are many rod we could do this comparison with so name away if you like, tet for tat.
  2. I used Stren and Trilene for years. I find myself in the middle of all the line hype and got a good one right in the gazzoo! I'm using P-Line right now. I fished today and realized It's a good line but it doesn't give the feedback that the Flouro will. I'm going to try Sunline or P-Line Flouro next. It does make a positive difference.
  3. Sorry that won't work for me. I want a 1/4-3/4 weight rating. for the cranks I'll be using. Thx
  4. I agree, I'm going to use the 6:4:1 on a spinner bait rod.
  5. Does any one own the Terry Scroggins White Ice rod? Can you tell me about it? How much better is the White Ice over the Micro Magic Pro?
  6. Looks like I'm going to have to go 6'6"-7.0'. I suppose if the St Croix Premier didn't cut it for me nothing else will either, not to mention there's nothing else available in 6'. Thread edited: 6'6" Rod
  7. If I have to go 6'6" my options are enormous. I was thinking another HMG but before I decided on a rod I want some opinions to mull over. I do like the idea of a Duckett rod. I'm just a little concerned about problems and warranty issues I read about on the rods and the company here in the forum. The Micro Magic has had my attention for quite a while. The Team Lews TLCC66MM is a nice rod too. Just to name a few..I'll go as high as $200.00 for the right rod.
  8. My 6' St Croix Premier is ok but it doesn't cast as far as I want so Its time to make a change. Let me know what you think I should look into buying. I'll pair my Lews BB1 multi stop with it. A straight 9" grip would be fine.
  9. Getting back to Duckett. I've read they are lighter than what they are rated. So a MH is more like a MM. Is that true?
  10. I do hold the line to close to the reel. Been doing it this way for years, Not going to do that anymore. A bomb cast does correct it but I'd rather put it on right the first time. Thanks for the tip!
  11. I'm seriously considering trying braid for worming and jigging. I haven't had any issues with any quality line I've used for spinner baits or cranks.
  12. Another Tournament pro on the way.. This one will be a 6:4:1 my other TP is a 7:1:1, Which gearing do you prefer for worming and jigging?
  13. Does the MB have the main gear service door? I like that feature. It's not on the Super Duty.
  14. Now that you mention this, I'm considering getting another tat.. What surprises is me is the big mouth took quite a chance on getting smacked in the face a few times. I'd have left him with a tat's. LMAO
  15. I've had that happen, when I get out on the water i bomb a few casts with a spinner bait and the line spools up like it should.
  16. Hey there oldschool, glad you found good fortune in the Boron Rods, I wasn't a fan. Maybe I bought the wrong pair. Thank you for the history although I don't beleive it was the economy sunk them. Good decision John. Way back all my rods were pistol grip. They were the cats meow. Don't own any now. In fact the last one I had was a USA made Eagle Claw IM7 corker I bought about 8 years ago or so. This past winter I removed the grip and extended the blank. I put a 9" straight grip on it. Bought the cork from Janscraft. If it wasn't such a nice rod I wouldn't have spent the money to do it.
  17. I bought a couple medium light rods. I remember they were expensive. Can't remember the brand but it certainly wasn't a no name. The rods had no back bone. I used them for floating jerk baits around docks. I haven't seen boron offered for years. I remember they didn't last long in the market. I'm glad you guys had better luck.. lol
  18. I'm using P-Line Floroclear and I just ordered a spool of CX. It casts well and has a connected feel to my baits. Hooks sets are solid, not much stretch. The Invisx casts very well and has great feel for what's happening with my baits. But it does break and that's unacceptable. Maybe Amazon was selling old stock or bad spools they bought at a deal. To top it off the company response to my request for an exchange was: No, It's your fault. Here is the email they sent me. Thank you for contacting Seaguar.com I would suggest exchanging with Amazon because you purchased it from them. The only explanation for that could be using to heavy of lure for 12lb line or if you backlashed it creating a weak spot in the line. ***First they tell me to exchange it with Amazon ? ***Then they tell me I must have back lashed it and caused a weak spot? ***So if Amazon replaces it that's fine with them because there's a problem. ***Then they put the blame on me so they don't have to replace it. Sincerely, Seaguar Customer Support When this line would break I was throwing 3/8oz jigs, 1/2oz spinner baits. The Rod weight ratings were 1/4-3/4 and 3/8-1oz. No back lashes occurred. Twice it broke after less than a dozen casts immediately following a re-spool. The breaks were between the bait and Rod tip while in mid air. It's absurd.
  19. My brother in law uses them. Take a look at the under spin reels too. He uses both styles and swears by them. To each his own right. As far as matching them to a Rod I would say look at the retrieve rates and use different # line for the Rod you match the reel with. Keep lure weights in mind when you buy a rod too.
  20. Give the Lews rods a look. They don't spend a ton advertising them so they can build a great Rod and keep the price down. You won't be disappointed..
  21. I hope for the money you guys are paying for Tatsu it's all it supposed to be.
  22. Does anybody out there remember the hype. I bought into it. I can't count how many hooks sets I missed because of those dam rods. LMAO
  23. I use Lews casting reels. I've been fishing since I was a kid. Did the NE BASS circuit in the 80s and early 90s. I'm no rookie. Seaguar Sucks and that's that.
