  1. The rod is 15 or more years old Mike. It has been taken care of. I'd say I got every cent out of it. I'm actually bummed. It was a great rod. I sent you an email earlier tonight.
  2. If you have near 500 to spend buy a used canoe and a trolling motor. Get where the fish are!
  3. I used the CX today, cast well, no friction. No problem with knots, not as nearly as much stretch as Floroclear. I pitched into laid down trees most of the day. I didn't see or feel any Knicks or chafing. It coils a bit but that didn't cause any issue. I Like it and will continue to evaluate the line. I will add this, It's 100% better than Invisx.
  4. I have a rod I've use for years. Recently I'm missing a lot of hook sets while using it. I checked the bend and the strength of the rod at different guides going down the blank and it's definitely weakened. I think it's time to retire it. Have you had a rod weaken to this degree? This one is an IM7 blank I bought when IM7 was the best out there.
  5. I like the T Pro for almost everything, it's small and light weight and tough. I'm not so sure the Team reel is worth the additional money. American Legacy Fishing has both on sale. $167 & $139.. Lews makes great reels so what ever you decide to buy you will be happy with. I use a BB1 Pro and a BB1 for cranks and spinner baits. I get seriously long casts with them.
  6. I've been using Floroclear 15# without issue on my bait casters. I bought 15 and 20# CX that arrived today. I'll be using both tomorrow. I'll post my review in this thread. PS: Seaguar Invisx sucks!
  7. Do you have any other bait casters? How long have you been using a bait caster?
  8. That's good to hear.. Years ago I had 4 tuna rods built. I don't remember the builders name, I do remember he was a Native American living in Ct. He built a superb rod. I'm confident Mike will do a good job for me and price should be fair. If all goes well I'm going to get crazy and go it with all custom rods.
  9. Just joking with you Mike, I'll call you today. Wayne
  10. Mike, it was really nice waiting for your call last night. Thank you for the hurry up and wait time.
  11. St Croix Premier 1/4-3/4 with a Lews BB1 5:1:1 or my Fenwick HMG 3/8-1 with a BB1 Pro 7:1:1. Both reels are filled with 14# Sufix Siege.
  12. Information emailed to Brian. I'll be speaking with him later today. Thx for opening my eye guys.. The bubble has burst! This is good news for me sense I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere. It's not offered by the manufacturers. I kinda get the feeling now I'll end up with a better rod because of this. I'm thinking a black blank with red thread and all cork straight grip on a Fugi style reel seat with 3 legged guides.
  13. I just pm'ed him.. Funny, I was on his website a week ago. I goggled worm& jig rod and his site came up in the search.
  14. You all have my curiosity up.. Who can build me a 6ft 3inch heavy rod for worming and jigging? 3/8-1 or 1 1/4, I want a straight 10" cork handle and a Fugi reel seat. I also want quality guides that sit close to the blank with double legs excluding the last 3 or 4. I bought a Lews magnum One. Nice rod but to long for me to use properly. I fish standing in my canoe with an outrigger on it.
  15. I bought a 5 HDI.. I want a Dragonfly now, Putting the 5 on ebay.
  16. I recommend investing the majority of your money in a good reel on sale. Check ebay for sale prices on rods but more importantly reels.
  17. Another consideration is resale, If you decide to sell a home brewed rod it's not worth a dime.. Just buy a rod and be happy. If you can't find one you like there's no way your going to have a rod built for $200.00 total that you will like at all.
  18. If you buy a Lews be sure to open the reel and oil and grease it. They don't do much at the factory before it leaves. The BB1, BB1 Pro,Tournament Pro & Team Lite are nice reels. You're currently into Shimano and Abu reels so you should stick with them, they're familiar to you. I don't think you will be happy moving outside a safe box.
  19. I decided to keep the price down to a hundred bucks. Looks like I'm going to buy a Fenwick HMG or a Duckett Ghost. If I buy the Duckett I'm not sure what the weight ratings are. I want a 1/4-3/4 oz rod. I'm not sure which rod would work best for lighter cranks. The crank models are all 7- plus.. What about this one: http://duckettfishing.com/product.php?productid=16239&cat=269&page=1 ?
  20. So far the Gl2 isn't doing well. Maybe they're relying on the Brand to sell them. dollar for dollar.. $200.00 rod comparisions
  21. I'm looking too. I want 20-25# Flouro. I may try P-Line and Sunline. I'm also going to try braid with a leader. I'm keeping an open mind. Stepping out of my almost old fart bubble.
