  1. I don't think it's the line. It sounds like it's probably the reel settings aren't set correctly and is causing the problem.
  2. I'm fishing out of a canoe and I travel in a small car. It just to long. 7' was a stretch.
  3. I spoke with Jacob at ALF he agreed with you. I'm going to pass on the 7'MM and buy the 7'MH. He's checking to see if he has one in stock.
  4. I have a Fenwick HMG that I use for spinner baits and deep diving cranks. Nice rod. I may have jumped the gun in buying the 7'mm rod. They maybe to close in all categories. I have time to switch my purchase. would you recommend I do so sense I like the 6'6"? I was hoping the heavier lure weight rating and length would be good for 10' plus deep divers not just for spinner baits. If that's the case I will stick with it.
  5. One of my favorite smaller lakes back in the eighty's and ninety's is now almost void of bass. Not because fish were mis handled but because a certain group that have come to live in my state are hungry for a free ride. What could be worse than that!
  6. Way to go! It's not everyday that you catch a lunker.. You finally had yours. Congrats.
  7. I bought a Team Lews 6'6" mm cranking rod last week and the same rod your looking at Saturday. It should arrive Thursday. The rod reeks quality, it's Light, sensitive, cast great and is very comfortable in my hand with a Tourny Pro on it. I'm using 15# CX. I've caught 7 bass with it so far. 3 # being the biggest. The rod has been nothing short of awesome in every way.
  8. Here's a classic.Twice I've had a rood fly out of my hands while casting. The release locked in the middle of the cast and see ya later..
  9. I did that yesterday... I was anxious to make my first cast with braid line...
  10. Ok so it sounds like the 7' mm I bought should handle spinner baits. It's 3/8-1 as opposed to the 6'6" which is 1/4-3/4. This is odd to me, The 6'6" rod struggles to cast 1/2oz spinner baits but cast 1/2oz beetle spins and cranks a mile. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me other than possibly aerodynamics.
  11. So what is the difference in the taper between a crank bait and spinner bait rod ?
  12. If you compare the same brand and series cranking rods, One is a 6'6" MM 1/4-3/4 and the other is a 7' MM 3/8-1 what should I expect the difference to be between them? And How similar are cranking rods to spinner bait rods in the same weight groups as these cranking rods? I've always bought generic weight rating rods.. Never Technic specific rods. This is all new to me.
  13. My trolling motor quit today. Then started again but only at high speed. It's a variable speed transom mount motor I use to power my canoe. Any idea's what the problem could be? It is under warranty.
  14. I'm using a Tournament Pro on a Custom Speed Stick. Its a good pair.. Today was my first day using braid. One word: awesome! Consider using braid when you buy the new reel.
  15. I used braid today for the first time.. I loved it. Then my trolling motor quit. It was very windy and my canoe got pushed into a drop rock shore line. Bam Bam Crunch.. Thought I was going over. I ended up smacking the motor up side the head and it started.. LMAO.
  16. How about when you thread the line thru the BC guide and lines under a wind.. Then when you cast the bait stops so fast the line breaks you lose a lure and you have a birds nest like no other!
  17. I plan on trying my Lew Custom Speed Stick Magnum 1 for the big cranks. I have two Team Lews crank rods for lighter baits. I also have a HMG MHF I can use.
  18. I started using BC's in the early eighty's. The reels back then were so much easier to use....................... NOT!
  19. Speaking of phones and goofs. I had my iphone in my pocket then 15 minutes later I put a small ratchet wrench in the same pocket and then got into my car. I was going fishing. Later when I pulled the phone out the glass was busted. Fortunately the phone is still working. Dah!
  20. The 6' 6'' mm cranking rod I bought did not have the palm grip. It's very comfortable. smalljaw just explained the rod grip offerings. The 7'6" and longer have the palm grip.
  21. Lews Custom Speed Stick 7' Magnum 1 This is my pitching rod. The handle was to long for me, the butt was hitting my elbow when casting different angles. I had it cut 2.25", The tech was able to save the very end of the butt. (infused cork) He cut and shaped the EVA. The handle feels exactly as I had in mind. Bam! I was with him in his shop when he removed the stock butt and cut the rod. He had all that done in a matter of minutes. Pretty cool process.
  22. I wasn't sure what year it was. I assumed it was a Fritts. Thanks for the info.. I bought a 6'6" last week. It's a great rod. The 7' should be here Thursday. Have you used a HM 85 7'MM?
