  1. Yeah, because. I haven't given that any thought. I'm gonna give that a try. I'm familiar with the 13 but not the 3. lol Hootie!!!
  2. The guides they use are serious quality. I'm surprised to see you wrote that in your post. Have you had guides break on a Lews rod?
  3. Interesting, I had bad experiences with Seajunk Invisx and Red Flouro line and the company. They Suck.
  4. My next reel purchase will be either the Team Lite or Team Pro reel. I'm leaning towards the Pro.I want their best.
  5. If you really want to save the ounce get the Lite. You will sacrifice the main gear service door. American Legacy has them on sale. Save $40.00
  6. P-Line 15# CX on some of my reels. 20# on one. I also use the 15 and 20 as a leader. I prefer it over Flouro or mono line. Low stretch and very tough line.
  7. My experiences have been positive. I own 6 Lews reels and three Lews rods. Let me make a suggestion. Buy a Tournament Pro or a Team Lite. You can buy a Tournament Pro at American Legacy Fishing for $139.00 right now while the sale is till going on. I bought 2 of them.
  8. I fish from a canoe that I rigged myself. I have no issues with it. If I have to pull anchors more often I don't mind. The anchor rope system with winding spools I designed for it makes it very easy and quick. I can tell you the kayak is very tight quarters and you won't be taking anyone along with you. If you're going to make a change go boat or consider a fishing canoe. Mine's 14' with a 40" width. I built and outrigger for it that keeps it totally stable for standing and casting. I have plenty of room in it. I run two batteries and use a 55# thrust T Motor. I can go all day and into the night with it alone or with a friend. You should be able to find a nice used one on line. Prices are very low so its a great buy. If you choose to go new consider the Old Town Guide 160 or 147. Both are great fishing canoes and they're priced right. Here's a link to buy one cheap: http://www.upcycledsavings.com/shoppingcart.php
  9. I like to Jig fish a lot these days. I swim them, pitch them, skip them and flip with them. I use two rods. An older USA made Eagle Claw rod MHF 1/4/-3/4 and a Lews CST MHF 3/8-7/8. Add which jig style and brand you prefer to use for different targets with or without a trailer and trailer styles and brand. I want to narrow down exactly which I should stick with. I generally throw black, black blue or black red. I use strike king trailers.
  10. I'm totally satisfied with the Magnum one I bought. All the talk about Dobyns & Duckett.. Those guys that like them so much should check out the Lews rods. What a sleeper.
  11. I don't see a jerk bait rod on the Lews list. Pick your poison.
  12. The HMG is a heck of a rod. I have a MHF casting.
  13. All Star makes nice rods.. Don't believe everything you read on the web.
  14. I'm of no help. I do like the 832 braid though. You'll know whether or not you like it soon enough. None of us can rely on what's generally on the net. I find it laughable most of the time.
  15. Nice Gift! .. Must be fun spending quality time with him.
  16. My 6'6" MM casting rod is exactly what I had hoped it would be. It's a total 10. I'm heading in 15 minutes to go fishing. I'll be casting the 7' MHM. I will let you know more when I get back tonight. Glad you like the rod SJ! Nice review. You have another one coming right?
  17. PDF and floating seat cushions in my canoe. Plus, I passed on the kipawa prop. Got my money back. They can be dangerous on a Minn Kota motor.
  18. I just started using braid. I chose 832 because of all the great reviews and forum members opinions, all favorable. My experience with 832 has been completely positive. Not at all as you described it.You obviously like Spiderwire, available at Walmart. You should stick with it.
  19. I started using Floroclear and CX a month ago. Both lines do what they are supposed to. I think the Floroclear would be a better choice for a spinning reel and the CX for a casting reel. I also use the CX as a leader with 832 braid. Good quality Japanese made line.
  20. I tie directly to the ring. Polomar, Trilene knots work fine. I just started tying the albright knot for braid to leader. It's much thinner than a Uni.
  21. Good luck with Seaguar Invisx. I like P-Line CX much better. Less stretch and it is much more abrasion resistant. Less coiling, Cast better. 15# & 20# are a good choice for cranks.
  22. Mike has two of mine right now. I can do a general cleaning, oil, grease but he has the knowledge to go beyond the norm. That's what I'm looking for. I want the best out of my reels. Talk to him it won't cost you anything to consider what he has to say.
  23. How long a leader do you typically use? I'm just getting started with braid.. I put 832 on my pitching rod. I tied a 14" 15# leader on. Can I get away with a shorter Leader? To answer the OP's question, I'm using 15 and 20# CX for cranks at this time. * I'm making my way to 832 braid for all my fishing. After my first hook set with braid using my pitching rod it was all over for me. No more nylon!
