I've only seen a few area's with bass beds in the lakes I fish in southern New England. I'm totally confused as to why. I'm not the only bass fisherman reporting this.
For steady retrieves I like the 5:4:1 for banging them off the bottom. I like the faster reel around big rocks, smaller rocks and gravel on the bottom. I'll can control the reel speeds and then movements with my rod. The idea is to trigger a strike. So far I've been successful doing so. Around Fallen trees and limbs I'll use the faster reel and work the rod.
I think the 10# line is your problem. Is it breaking at the knot or somewhere in the middle of the line between the rod tip and the hook?
Also 10# Flouro is very fragile line. It nicks easy and breaks. The 14# was a good move. Try some P-Line CX if you're using a bait caster or the Floroclear if it's a spinning reel. It's a lot tougher than Flouro and a third the price.
I bought two crank bait rods. I wanted MM and MHM. That's what I bought. If you don't see something you want on the site call Adam.
He will check the inventory to see if he has what you want. I did that to get the 7' MHM and he had it. I got it in 2 days FedEx on a Saturday. Also sign up for the news Letter and you will get a $25.00 discount coupon.
You can't use it for a super sale item like the Team Lews Rod but you can towards another rod they have that you may want. It takes a day to get the coupon code via email.
I enjoyed reading your story. I hope you enjoyed my following post. I added humor.. I had a Rod with a fuji reel seat. The glue dried out and it became loose. I re glued it with super glue. The SG cured so quickly I didn't have time to position it at center. It's off set about 1/16th to the left. Next time I'll use epoxy.
It gave me an excuse to go out and buy a new rod. That was the best mistake I ever made!
I upgraded my rod.
Apparently this thread is done. He's already been fishing and caught his fish with a craw.
Not a spinner bait or a jig... Next time you fish dark water throw a spinner bait with gold blades.
I like the extra threads removed. It's a cleaner look and they serve no purpose other than being uncomfortable for me.
When I cast my index finger ends up laying on the reel seat pointing in the direction of my cast. It comes naturally, I didn't practice it.
Agreed... Lousy choices they made. And by the way Out Door Life is an old insignificant magazine trying everything to survive in a new era. It's laughable.
They do a hugh G.Loomis business. I'm considering a GL2 6' worm/jig/top water rod they have in stock. It's hard to find a 6' casting rod these's days.
Plus, I need one more reel. Not sure which Lews model it will be yet. I'm leaning towards the Team Lite or Pro but I'll most likely buy another tournament pro. At the price they have them for it's tough not to buy one.
