  1. I need a cutter, Which cutter do you prefer and why?
  2. I know what you've been going thru pond king. I recently went thru a similar debate with myself. I ended up buying a G Loomis IMX Classic which arrived a couple days ago. I haven't fished with it yet. But, I am also waiting on an Avid to arrive mid week. The G Loomis is a Heavy Fast action. The Avid is a Medium Heavy fast action. Both rods are the same length. From what I hear the Avid is one power heavier than the Loomis. Both rods are for worms, jigs, spinner baits. These two will be my go to rods. I bought them to replace a couple of rods I wasn't thrilled with. One being a Premier, the other a Berkley. $260 and $160... We shall see how they stack up against each other. Pond King, I hope you like the rod you decided on.. I don't think you would have been unhappy either way.
  3. I'll be using my Lews Custom Speed Stick when I get it back from the builder. The rod is a 7' mag one. Serious back bone with a very fast tip. I put 65# 832 on a Lews Tourny Pro. No leader line.
  4. I'm going to give the Alberto knot a try. I've been tying the uni to uni.
  5. No tracking update, it's not looking good.
  6. Roger, I have tied direct and loved it. I was working pads. My question would be what about open water? I would think the braid would be visible to the bass.
  7. I'm not doing any salt water fishing. So I'm more apt to try the sniper line. 14 would be good to boot. I like the leader about 6 feet now. When I started with braid I thought 18"s would be fine. It isn't. Those knots are a pain in the butt.
  8. I finally found a couple of 6 foot rods I wanted for short casting Jigs and worms accurately. I bought both and I'm buying a third on Monday. Not easy to find when money is an object. I almost went custom but that can also be expensive and there is no guarantee the rod will be what you expected and it can't be returned.. (I think) So first I bought a Shock rod which is a good rod, better than I expected. Then a G Loomis IMX Classic. Monday I pay for a St Croix Avid. As for longer rods I like a 7 footer for deep cranks and a 6'6" for square bills and heavier spinnerbaits. The 6ers will do the rest.
  9. I've been using a few different lines as a leader with braid. None if these leader specific, CX, Stren, Sufix.. What are you guys using? Is there a difference between line and leader line? I just started using braid a month or so ago so this is new to me. One thing I can tell you is I do not like big knots so I want to down size to a 12# leader with 40# or 50# braid.
  10. I was truly disappointed with invisx 12# and 20# test. It's like a rubber band and breaks easily. I call it Seajunk. Waste of money. I found P-Line CX to be a much better line.
  11. I've used #3 True Turn Hooks for Texas rigging for years. Often with 20 mono and a heavy rod. Never had one open up.
  12. I like the BB1 reels. I have two and one Pro. You can do anything you want with them. Especially the Pro.
  13. 30 is generally the equivalent of 10# test. Personally I like a fatter line. I've been using 40# Kast King. I want to go up to 50 but in a different brand. Need more information before I switch brands. 832?
  14. I'm going fishing right after it arrives and I spool it up. Review to follow.
  15. Pretty cool Hootie..
  16. Aside from diameter I wonder, how much difference does the brand makes?
  17. I bought s new Team Pro Magnesium. It's schedule for delivery tomorrow'. Going to pair it with my new G Loomis IMX. Am I Syked? You bet I am.. Pics tomorrow.
  18. Nice fish guys... What a thrill to catch a Lunker.. It's not easy. We all love pics so keep them coming. Hey, post the weight
  19. I use my 6'6 or 7' Lews Team crank bait rods. Works for me. Both on sale at American Legacy Fishing. Great deal..
